DVD Nav update?

Just loged on to owner link. They show me all the updates I need on my nav system.. I just bought the car late in December '06. Do I really need to install 2007 updates? They seem to be minimal at most hardly needed for me, but how do I do this should I want to. and how much does it cost? FAQ 's didn't seem to touch upon cost. Thanks!

you likely already have the current disc. It is white and says version 4.55 on it. Hard to go by year since they refer to it in different ways in different places.

Yeah...I suspect you have the latest disk. I comes out in the fall each year, and costs $185 to upgrade. I bought my RDX in August and it had last year's version (4.41). The latest version is 4.55....

to the left of the front passenger's feet. There is an access door in the carpet.

There's a little carpet access door on the passenger side of the center console, just below the cupholders. Pry it open from the bottom, open it upwards, then the upper edge should slide down and out. Press the red button on the drive, and the drive's protective door will open. Then you can press eject to get at the disk. You need to have the power on for this to work...

Thanks a bunch. Wow it's hard to pry open. Did ya use a screw driver? I'm afraid I'm gonna break the carpeted door off...maybe i'll wait till the daytime when I can see better under there, to check the drive.

I usually pull it off wth my key. It comes off pretty easily. if it is giving you too much resisitance then you are starting on the wrong side. Don't force it too much!

Hehe....I actually used a plastic pan scraper to get mine off because I didn't want to damage the carpet. There are two pressure 'clips' or catches on the lower corners along the bottom edge. Start prying at one corner on the bottom edge, and the whole thing should pop right out. Mine was hard to get off the first time, but now it's easy....not sure if that's good or bad, but it still stays on and doesn't rattle, so I think I'm ok. The big no-no is prying from the top because you'll break the tabs.

Good luck,
Mike
