Backup camera question

I am currently looking into getting a 08 or 09 RDX.. im curious since in the 2010 models the backup camera has lines to show where to line up your vehicle backing up.. is there a way to put that feature in the 08 or 09? and if so what would it take?

is the dash setup the same size?? i would think really all that would need to be done is swap out the back up camera system from a '10 and put it in the '08 but i was just thinking there could be an easier way like a software update or something..

And, does the backupcamera also have beeping sensors that say when you're getting close to an objectm or just the camera?

The backup sensors are a dealer-installed accessory. I got it, and am happy I did. The combination of looking with my eyes out the back and side windows, the backup camera, and the sensors makes me more confident with backing up. The RDX is the largest vehicle I've ever owned, with the biggest blind spots, so I appreciate the extra electronic help!

Are the lines on the back-up camera electronically placed on top of the camera image or physically part of the camera lens?

The lines would be helpful, its kinda hard to judge distance with a 2D image.

Based on that camera pic, they look like they are digitally superimposed - ie: software inserted. If that's the case, then it doesn't seem possible without replacing the nav unit....but that's my guess.

NO, it cannot be done w/ the '08.
It's only for the '10 and newer models.

You don't need the back-up lines on the camera. You can see the bumper which allows you to know how close you are to an object. I find the lines useless if you can see your own bumper which you can in the RDX.

Let me go back a bit. Who said putting backup camera screen in the rear view mirror is impossible? I own 08 RDX base and had Pioneer backup camera with Advent LCD screen built-in rear view mirror installed. They are working just fine. Plus, my pioneer backup camera has the parking guide lines as its feature.

i was talking about delaer installed... Rear view camera for 2010 (non tech)model to be installed to 08 model... Delaer dont want to install it for me the reason they told me was different wiring... I know it's not imposible to put camera on RDX, even BestBuy can do it for you. :p

The backup camera and superimposed yellow lines are just guides. Once you get used to the backup camera on the up to '09 tech you quickly learn the dimensions and I personally dont feel like you need the yellow lines.

Thats the only complaint I have. If you've ever checked out ford's OEM backup system on '09 and greater sync systems (like the MKX) the camera is so much better. Actually warning you if you are going to hit something visually.
