so my rdx has been broken into TWICE in the past WEEK ! and both rear door windows were broken. so i want to know what the acura alarm system actually detects. does it detect glass breakage? i'm assuming no because i didnt hear my alarm go off at all .... my guess would be only when the door opens it will go off. also, is it possible to add an aftermarket alarm to the existing keyless entry system? any help would be appriciated ... thanks !

 

Yes when you open the door it should sound the alarm. Aftermarket will work with a bypass module if you want a remote starter, Compustar is good, 2 way system.

What area do you live in and what do you keep in your car that would warrant a theif to break in twice?

 

Sorry to hear about this. Was anything actually taken from the car? Weird that it was the rear windows and not the front windows...unless they saw something in the back seat.

 

thanks guys. yea the first time was in a parking lot at a mall, i ran inside to return a book and when i came out my laptop bag was stolen (no laptop inside, thankfully). this couldnt have been more than 15min, but it was partly my fault for leaving the bag in plain sight. the second time (5 days later), happened at a restaurant coming back from a snowboarding trip. stopped to grab dinner at a restaurant and car was filled with travel stuff. they got away with a luggage and a backpack, but left the snowboards and most of the other bags. 2 other cars were broken into in that lot as well.

a 2 way pager would be great, but that would mean id have to carry around two large keys. this would allow me to keep the same key remote and have the added security of window sensors.
