Acura RDX 2008 Bluetooth pair

I have a car Acura RDX model 2008. I bought it used, last summer. When I bought it the previous owner told me,
that the car has a Bluetooth functionality, which allows the stereo to connect to my phone, and the system is completely functional.
I tried setting it up, but it didn't work so I kind of let it go. But, I really want it to work, as I do a lot of talking during driving, and holding my phone is not safe.
Here is what happens: I press the talk button, and say my password. I get in the system, I say "phone setup", It tells me the options I say "pair". It makes me setup a 4 digit password for the setup. I pick some random numbers, and the car tells me "turn your phone in discovery mode." Well here is the problem. My phone doesn't really have a "discovery mode"(samsung J7 - android 8) . I go to Bluetooth(on the phone) turn it on, and hit SCAN(that is my best guess of putting it in discovery mode).
I wait and my car says "phone not found". I tried it 5 times it doesn't work. On my phone I see 2 Bluetooth devices nearby, but their names are some coded ID's, so I can't really say if one of them is my car or not. Anyway I tried connecting to both of them entering the password I setup in the car, and it does't work. "Can't connect" if I recall correctly is what my phone says.'
How can I make this work? The previous owner said that its working, and I am able to get to the menu for pairing which tells me the system is available. Just not sure how to pair my phone, correctly.

That's how to get it in discovery mode but if you car cant' find it, it can just be a dead HFL unit. Personally, I would (and have) just gotten a Bluetooth Aux adapter like : https://smile.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC4...r=8-1-fkmrnull

or https://smile.amazon.com/SmartCharge...gateway&sr=8-1

and connect to the bluetooth that way. This also has the extra perk of being able to stream music through your stereo as well!
