2009 RDX Daytime/Highbeam HID conversion

I just purchased a 2009 Acura RDX and was looking at installing HIDs for the highbeams. Currently the daytime and highbeam lights are Halogen, and the lowbeams appear to be HIDs already.

Has anybody done this conversion? I'm probably going to order the parts and do it myself. I haven't opened up the headlight casing yet to check anything out, but was just wondering if anybody had any tips, or what parts I need/don't need. The main thing being the error eliminator.

I was thinking of ordering from here: DDM Tuning 35W and 55W HID Kits

I've got a coworker who's bought from here for his VW with good results.

THoughts? THanks.

you cant run HID as a DRL due to the low voltage.. and having HID as highbeam itsnt a really a good idea specially when you need the light to come on quickly.. HID takes a few seconds to turn on and warm up as where LED and Halogen are more instant.. if you are looking to get brighter highbeams i suggest doing LEDS you can also run them as DRL too they will be spendy.. try this place =) VLEDS

Very interesting...do you happen to know if these put out similar light color to the stock HID lamps? I would love this as a foglight upgrade vs. going HID, not to mention the DRL / high beams.

healights are HID-D2S 12.8v (85v), 35w, 4100 Kelvin, 3200 lumens, > 2500 rated hours
(after 2000 hours of use or 5 years: 5000 Kelvin, 2240 lumens),
so dependening on how often you use your headlights ect.. the 5k LED will be pretty darn close to your stock beam

I bought the LED lights for the fogs...if they arrive Friday as expected I'll swap them out this weekend and post some before / after shots. If it looks good I may grab a set for the low / high beams as well.

Yes, the DRL/high beams...oops!

Although I have noticed that my low-beams are not even. When shining on my garage wall from about 20ft away, the passenger light appears to be aimed about 3-4" higher than the driver. I'd love to level them off...anyone know off the top of their head if they're easily adjustable?

HID lights are staggered in this uneven way, so as not to blind oncoming drivers. I thought the same thing when I bought my Honda S2000 which has the exact same difference between the two lights. I almost brought the car back to get them "fixed" until I did a bit more investigation on the correct adjustment for HIDs.
