on acuras website...its using the 3.7 V6 from the MDX.... new 6 sp tranny.
good for Acura on making a few leaps into real lux, lets see if all the quoted features make the production vehicle....and...the most important
this thing only works if it actually performs...i saw slotted rotors in the pics, could be an indication of some performance, but could be just another thing for the show
this vehicle needs to tear it up...because if it doesnt...who wants a 50k that doesnt achieve greatness on the road...the FX & X6 are similar vehicles, but with serious performance....Acura better be serious with this thing to make it work.
that withstanding, its the first classy lookin, non honda, upscale vehicle ive seen acura produce

The ZDX is probably replacing the '10 RDX. I can't see Acura producing a '10 RDX unless it is a carryover, which will further kill sales. The ZDX seems to be the size of the RL, but with more cargo room. From what I have seen I really like it, but I'm afraid the $50+ price tag (my guess) will only take sales away from the MDX, IMHO.

i think the ZDX fills a great slot, at least for Acura...assuming to start that you consider the MDX Acuras best vehicle (all around fit/finish, price tag, ranks atop its competition, is well respected etc) then the ZDX is a great alternative to someone who wants a top end acura, and not the size nor space of the MDX. the only alternative to a truck style body and or appearance is the RDX, and we all know it aint no MDX or even close in terms of lux, refinement, etc etc. Its a shame that this cuv - coupe - 4 dr thing is now the flagship ( you would think they would debut a real sedan before this to lead the brand ) but hey, whatever works. Im not saying the RL isnt a great vehicle, but it does nothing great, and that is why i think the MDX leads the brand - because it heads the competition and is basically the RL SUV

How much does this thing weigh? The BMW X6 weighs an even 5000 pounds, which is more than 1000 pounds heavier than a car that size should weigh. Heavy weight = terrible gas mileage and poor handling.

The ZDX is big. Overall length is 192.4 in. and overall width is 78.5 in. It rides on a 108.2-in. wheelbase and stands 61.8 in. tall.
It may have cues from the TL...but the execution is much better...TL is gross...this isnt, this works

Yes, it's BIG! I don't see Acura gaining many customers with the ZDX, just maybe a few current RL baby boomer owners who want more space to haul stuff on vacation. Nor, do I see MDX owners trading for this concept. My Acura dealer is pleading for used Acuras, as that is where the action is now. With the ZDX in the mix I may well go for it if the '10 RDX is a bust.

the ZDX is not a cargo hauler by anymeans...its backseat seems to be for asthetics not function...(pre-design was without back seats) the cargo area the same case....ur not taking a big vacation in this car.....its a niche upscale vehicle...its form over function
if it attacks the competition and is actually worth the asking price....acura may have something viable in the market...id say id be pretty sure the ZDX is not supposed to appeal to the typical Acura shopper (those that look for mega value, lower stickers, dont care abotu prestige) Acura wants the ZDX to change up the corporate game...well see if it works, my guess is the typical acura buyer is not buying this car,,, but i dont think they are supposed to either

From Car and Driver:
"Designed by 28-year-old Michelle Christensen (who was only 25 when she penned the first version of the vehicle), the five-passenger ZDX is based on the MDX platform and will be positioned above that seven-seater as a flagship within Acura’s lineup. Although Acura claims that the ZDX will introduce “an entirely new category of luxury vehicle,” no one will be able to help comparing it to that other four-door coupe crossover thingy, the BMW X6, although the ZDX’s ride height is markedly lower. Still, like the X6, it is none too dainty at 192.6 inches long, a vast 78.5 inches wide, and 61.8 inches tall. There are 108.5 inches between the centerlines of the 20-inch wheels, which are shod with 275/40-series Michelin Latitude tires.
Acura confirms that it will be powered by a V-6—likely the MDX’s 3.7-liter—mated to an all-new six-speed automatic, but declined to reveal output specifics. It will, of course, come standard with Acura’s nifty Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system.
The interior of every ZDX will feature leather seating surfaces, and occupants will get plenty of light from above via the standard full-length glass roof. For lane changes—which undoubtedly will be hampered by those huge C-pillars—the ZDX will offer a blind-spot information system, as well as a multi-angle rear-view camera, surround-sound audio, navigation and, we imagine, a whole lot more if it is to, as Acura claims, achieve “a whole new level of prestige” for the brand."
Wow, this was designed by a 25 year old; now all of 28? Looks like at least $50K it if tops the MDX. A little too rich for me, even though I can afford it.

With the 300 HP V-6 the ZDX will not haul ass. Once again Acura is doing this project on the cheap as far as the engine is concerned. On the other hand, it the '10 RDX had the V-6 it would haul ass.

yea, my guess is that working with the MDX powerplant, short of throwing a turbo on it (imagine an inline 6 honda turbo??) not sure what the ZDX would do, certainly will not hang the FX5 & X6, but who knows, on paper, the RDX doesnt look like anything at all, but our suv kicks everythings ass short of the ex by maybe a few tenths
