Is it correct for the the drivers side beam to project shorter than the passengers?
I can follow the logic as it would be less intense for on coming traffic but as this is my first ride with Xenons I don't know.

Has anybody replaced the DRL or Fog Lamps with something bluer or brighter? Do HID Fog Lamps exist? Any recommendations?

 

What kind of Color temp are the head light? Too blue to be the normal 4300K, right?

 

been thinking about replacing them, just haven't got to it. Anyone that has HID fogs does what's called a retrofit. They pull projector housings from a differently car with HID's, and piece it together within the stock fog like surround/housing. Takes mucho skill in my opinion to make it look good.

In the US, I don't believe a manufacturer can go above 4300k ... correct me if i'm wrong, different comp's claim different outputs. For instance, 4300k on my mazdaspeed3 was pretty weak, and more yellow/bright white then leaning towards to the blue part of the spectrum. Now you look at 4300k on an s2000 and it leans towards the bright white/blue part of the spectrum. It all depends on who manufacturers the HID's IMO.

 

For the DRLs, tried that, done that... you can't replace them with aftermarket units like the PIAA extreme whites and hope to get white light out of them. The DRLs are designed to supply power at half what it is to light up the regular nigh-time driving lights (i.e. instead of the standard 55W current supply, the relays sends only 22W of power to the DRLs, and those extreme whites require the 55W to generate the 4800K light).

Human evolution has dictated that our eyes are most sensitive to the light spectrum provided by the sun, and 4300K happens to come closest to that. Anything different is only for esthetics and that mostly for the view of/by oncoming drivers.

Pardon me, but FOG lights.....??!!

It's already bad enough that the idiot asian designers are forcing us to not have true viability of automative fog lights. I have had to retrofit EVERY asian vehicle I have so the FOG lights could be used alone.

FOG light assemblies are typically, STILL, designed for LOW, WIDE and CLOSE-IN forward illumination, often slightly AMBER illumination.

But having the low beams on, REQUIRED by asian designs, does nothing but reduce the functionality of the FOG lights. On the other hand having the FOG lights on with high beams reduces your forward distance vision substantially.

FOG lights cannot be used to improve your distance vision as some seem to believe. Currently they seemed to be used, mostly, to reduce the vision of oncoming drivers and maybe impress same.

SEE ME, I HAVE COLORED HID FOG LIGHTS...!!!

If you wish to increase your distance vision then look for DRIVING lights that do not do double service as FOG lights except with integral DUAL bulb/reflectors.

 

I love HID's for their brilliant color output, regular halogens just don't do it for me anymore. Driving through an area that isn't well illuminated is a pleasure, blue-ing up everything around. Has anyone on the Zine considered other colors for their headlights? I have been thinking about yellow or maybe even purple, with whatever combo with the fogs...
