Winters' last stand

Just when we thought winter was over it dumps not only snow, but a mix of rain and ice in there as well. Pretty much a nightmare for people who have to shovel this crap and also for people who need to travel.

After driving this car through 60 miles of this crazy ass northeastern storm I felt it was confidence inspiring. Granted it's not THE best off-roader (and i doubt acura had plans for it to be one) the RDX did really well in snow/ice with stock tires. Very good traction and handling.

Turning off VSA really helped too as it gives a confident driver more control. What I did notice was vibrations at highway speeds around 40-60mph which could be attributed to a bit of ice in the wheels. If not my balancing could be out of whack, which I find doubtful as I have yet to hit any hard potholes or bumps.

Yup same here where are you from? I'm here in northern Jersey and we got a good 4 inches of snow/ice. Rdx handled it with ease and provided excellent traction. I'm glad to get this first snowstorm out of the way with the new car but I am also looking forward to washing the car asap to get rid of all the salt thats all over it now...

Very impressed with the way my handled too; both in the sleet covered streets where I work to the snow covered areas by my home. Having driven nothing but stick shifts for the past 15 years, the snow also provided a nice opportunity to use the paddle shifters.

Ditto all the above. I am quite pleased with the snow handling myself as we got dumped on several times. The shimmy is from ice accumulated on your wheels. Others have also experienced this. Some have simply washed the wheels at a car wash [with hot water].

I'm from sheepshead bay, brooklyn. =P
I applied a good coat of paint sealant on it before the winter. So the paint should be able to stand some of that salt. All i know is, if it's gonna get dirty again as there is still a lot of brown slush on the road might as well wait a few days.

Driving up to the ski mountain a few weeks ago we got stopped on snow/ice packed hills several times due to people ahead getting stuck. Never had any problem getting restarted. Once we started moving again the cherokee behind me was stuck for a good minute or two. The stock tires really impressed me on the packed snow.

got to pick my car up finally the other day just in time for the last snow storm of the season. This car did everything I asked it to do without question. Hills, angled driveways blocked in by snow plows and unplowed parking lots. I was surprised at how great the sh-awd worked to keep the car straight even while accelerating through a turn on ice.

To refrain from adding a new topic I will ask it here:

has anyone ran a little too fast over unpaved mix of snow/ice or big puddles of freezing water? Was wondering if modern cars can handle that abuse without much harm done to it. The car feels fine now and nothing is wrong with it, was wondering if that usually screws a car up.
