What's missing in the RDX?
What's missing in the RDX?
- Power Passenger Seat
- Memory Seat (is it true the '08 has this???)
- Ability to show what song (title and artist) is on regular FM radio. Our old Ford can do this, why can't the RDX?
- Refined knob technology. Why show me all the letters as I scroll if they are greyed out?
What do you think?
If you notice, all those grayed out letters become the next closest letter as you scroll left or right allowing you to select the next non-grayed letter before you get there.
I would also like to see an option with the trip computer to display some of the Info display stuff, like the SH-AWD meter, which is useless where it is located while you are performing a maneuver capable of getting the rear wheels to engage.
In next Gen Acuras, I hope they will integrate the HFL, NAV and Information displays into a more flexible display.

I miss **Auto-headlights and **Panoramic Moonroof...which were found on past cars I've driven.
I'd also like a new "KITT-tech" package that comes with a glowing turbo-boost button and voice responses from a British-sounding guy...who'll tell me not to touch the button.
Along with what has been added to the 2008s, I would of loved to see, with the tech package, comfort access (bmw term), which allows you to open your door when you get close, and a push start ignition switch when you're in the car. The key thing is old fashion. My sister's IS250 has this feature, and I think it's great when. Touch screen for the NAVI would of been good too, but not as much as the others added in the 2008s, from the 2007s.

I guess that's why they market the console cooler bag, probably because they didn't want to flood the cabin with cup holder mounts.

I would like to see the gear number displayed all the time, even when I am not paddle-shifting. Also, I would like to play MP3 DVDs (not just MP3 CDs).
I don't care about most of automatic features that you folks are talking about.

I can't stop using these stupid smilies!

What say we talk in terms of what the RDX does have, as a luxury CUV, that more expensive competitors don't have?
Why doesn't the far more expensive Lexus RX350 have:
standard key fob connected driver memory settings?
standard tilt/telescoping steering column?
standard mirror mounted turn signals?
standard paddle shifters?
standard reversing cargo cover that fits nicely into the cargo area floor?
standard HID headlights?
standard monster size console storage?
standard Bluetooth link?
standard leather seats?
standard heated seats?
standard 18 inch alloy wheels?
standard SH AWD?
Based upon the example of the RDX, I would expect a luxury CUV to have such features. In this case, the RX comes up short as a competitor.
Instead of a complaint thread, why don't we have a "celebrate the great features that the RDX does have relative to its competitors" thread?

The RX surpasses the RDX in many comfort aspects, and its a lexus, with better interior materials, a V6, much much much much better ride, but even then, RDX is not in the same class, nor is it a LEXUS!
I'll respond to both of your posts with one post.
You're evading my question by appealing to arguable unimportant points such as "It's a Lexus." That point may carry some weight for others, but it doesn't for me.
The RDX competes with a wide range of CUVs and the RX has been mentioned in some articles as one of its competitors.
I've sat in both vehicles. I found the RDX to have an equally nice, if not nicer, interior than the RX.
Finally, I don't understand the logic of your last response. It doesn't explain why the RX lacks arguably important features that the RDX does have.

I posted two because I did not want to type up the response in the other and have the fourm tell me I had five minutes to do so.
I was not evading the argument, maybe if you did not know but Having a LEXUS pulls weight with people, they WILL pay more for a LEXUS. And as far as I'm concerned they are not in the same class, the ride and handling characteristics put the RX in a totally different class.
The RDX has all of these things standard to cut down on costs, and make things simpler, and the RX's interior has better plastics and more soft touch surfaces than the RDX.

I see I'm not getting anywhere with you. I don't agree with you, but that's OK. I just think we need to spend a bit more time celebrating the great vehicle we have now relative to others than may be viewed by some as competitors.

Why doesn't the far more expensive Lexus RX350 have:
standard key fob connected driver memory settings? Optioned right, it has it Along with these extras that the RDX does not even OFFER
The Lexus Memory System recalls power adjustments for different drivers. Adjustments vary by model, but include such things as driver's seat positioning, steering column and outside rearview mirrors.
standard tilt/telescoping steering column?
- Power tilt-and-telescopic steering column with memory
POWER TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
standard mirror mounted turn signals?
The RX does not have these.
Paddle shifters? Tell me who driving something as uninspiring as the RX would need these?
standard reversing cargo cover that fits nicely into the cargo area floor? Those Grandmas are all up in arms over this!
standard HID headlights
If optioned right, and it also has AFS, something the RDX does NOT have
- Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
- High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with dynamic auto-leveling
standard monster size console storage?
The RX is tailored to a specific demographic, why would it need something this deep? So the older people that drive it can fall in?
standard Bluetooth link?
If Optioned right
standard leather seats?
- Leather-trimmed interior
standard heated seats?
The RDX while it has it but does not have heated seat backs? Cost cutting, simple as that, no Airbag stopped countless other Auto makers from having this, why should it stop Acura?
standard 18 inch alloy wheels?
Seven-spoke, 18-in aluminum alloy wheels with Liquid Graphite finish
standard SH AWD?
Something you really would want in a comfort CUV that has a VSC system so restrictive it hits the skid pad at 55g? You really need super handling?!
Based upon the example of the RDX, I would expect a luxury CUV to have such features. In this case, the RX comes up short as a competitor.
Let me put it this way, when the RDX came out, the RX did not break one sweat. They are NOT competitors!
Instead of a complaint thread, why don't we have a "celebrate the great features that the RDX does have relative to its competitors" thread?
The RDX has LITTLE that the others do not have, and As I said ACURA made these things STANDARD to CUT down on costs, and to KEEP it simple.
And as I have said, Lexus has a brand image that Acura does not have currently.
All of these things come in one option package.
What it does have over the others,
SH-AWD, A really great navi.
RX has RDX does not have-
- HomeLink® universal transceiver to operate compatible garage, gate, home lighting and home security systems
- Power windows with one-touch auto open/close feature
- Power rear door
-Lexus Personalized Settings (LPS) to personalize electronic functions
-Automatic on/off headlamps with 30-second auto-off delay
-10-way driver's and front passenger's (including lumbar) power seats
- Driver's knee airbag (SRS)

I'm not sure what everyone's talking about with paint. I've parked my RDX next to friends' Infinitis, Mazdas, and Beamers and I'm not sure what differences there are in terms of "quality".

I really enjoy my RDX. Now you made me feel bad!
The stereo rocks (literally).
It STILL smells like "new car"...Acura probably pumps it in somehow.
It's sporty but can still haul stuff around.
I'm going for a drive.

I hate that ugly POS, Its just when the other poster mentioned things about the RDX having and the RX not having, I had to show him that the RX does have almost all of these things, and more with the exception of turn signals in the mirrors. RX is a waste of money for me, I actually enjoy driving.
H1 Why dont you do some reading here and a search before hijacking a thread?
You have not been here even close to long enough to jump in and start making assumptions. Create your own post "celebrating"! Those of us that have had the vehicle for a while are at the "honeymoon is over" stage and are well equipped to offer comments on how to improve the vehicle.
IMHO: The reason the 2008 "upgraded" to memory seats and electrochromatic mirrors is partly because of the groundswell of comments on THIS board. We spoke in large volume and; Lo and behold these items appeared in the 2008 RDX. I think we provide a valuable service for Acura, much like the dozens of "customer surveys" they like to send.
And while you might have quite possibly upgraded from a Kia Spectra, many of us have stepped down from another luxury brand, and as long as Acura attaches the "luxury" moniker to their product - we will continue to point out what we feel as glaring omissions.
Enjoy your new ride.
Edit: Re reading your posts leads me to believe that you do not currently own a RDX - correct me if I am wrong please.
