I noticed quite a few porno threads on this forum in the last few days. How is this possible to sneak past moderators? Are they sleeping online? I guess they can sneak the dirty threads on the forum but why does it take so long to remove?

Moderator/Admins, can you give us a button to censure or report the threads and make your work easier?

BTW, I have noticed an invasion in different BBs, I visit some Saab BBs quite often and this started happening there too....I guess these format is really vulnerable...

(by the way - this has been like this since I can remember, so don't get any impressions that it was considered done by me)

 

It's called google bombing. The spammers are post as many links to their sites from as many different locations as they can to raise their page ranking in the search browsers.

It shouldn't be that hard to write a back end script that looks at simple things like post count and the number of links in a message to make an educated guess about the post being spam. I do this type of professionally so if any admin would like me to throw something together, feel free to drop a line.

 

We need a button to report threads from the main page, without going into them (for those of us at work).

They come in the back door and we can't stop them until Internet Brands upgrades the vBulletin version to the latest one. And we're not sleeping but we can't be everywhere and you are not the only forum who gets porned.

Since we can't stop them, anytime you find one you can send me a PM and I'll get rid of it immediately, or you can submit a Bad Post Report, but the PM to me will work quicker. I am usually home but you could also info one of your regular mods and whichever one of use gets to it first will delete it.

And the red button is not the porno button, someone is pulling your leg. It means the person viewing has elected to use the Use Invisible Mode option so his name does not appear in the list at the bottom of the page.

 

Being a moderator here in RDX, I can say that I cannot open these threads where I work sometimes, and I cannot delete the threads if I can't open them. Being a moderator is not a full time job where I can spend 24x7 here. I work in a place where all communications are monitored so if I opened a thread like that, I'd be in deep trouble. Usually I delete the threads as soon as they are reported, but sometimes I cannot. I will say that most of you probably don't even see half of them before they are deleted. I'm sure the people who run the site will figure out a way to prevent these threads from appearing soon. At least I hope so.
