What have you towed with your RDX?

I'm curious as to what exactly people have towed with their RDX.

I am getting a class III Valley Hitch (rated up to 4000lbs), but I know Acura states the RDX is only rated to tow up to 1500lbs.

For now I plan to simply use the hitch with a bike rack. But I never know down the road what I might want to do with it.

So....what have you actually towed (and how much did it weigh) with your RDX?

I don't think that youo can tow much, regardless of the hitch class.....OH, and a word of caution for you (in case you didn't know), you will only be able to carry 150lb with your hitch, that includes the weight of the hitch and bikes......

The bikes are all aluminum and the rack only weighs 30lbs. I shouldn't even approach 100lbs with 2 bikes and the rack itself.

why only 150lbs though?...

because, when loaded like that, your capacity is only 10%....I don't know the reason...is it called tongue weight?

The hitch said it was 400lb rated tongue weight.

The hitch is rated to tow up to 4000lbs.

I have no doubt the RDX could handle 300lbs of tongue weight with no problem. The tongue weight is more dependent on the type of hitch than it is on the type of car or suv.

Where the RDX will falter will be that 1500lb overall towing weight.

Trust me my friend I'm only planning on carrying around a SportRack 2 with two Aluminum bikes.

No plans on a boat or anything crazy!

With the K&N drop in, it is really making a difference on this tank! I'm sure break in is helping too. 50-55mph is really the sweet spot for the RDX that I've found so far.

60%HW 40%city on this tank coming up.

You are correct, that's the "sweet spot"...but, who drives that speed? If you stay under 70 (more like at 65) you can get descent economy
