Got the new pressure sensor in and it reads basically the same as the original... I was then navigating around the HMS software looking for something else and found the sensors also listed under the AT screen and the baro and boost were both 97 kPa, so the sensor is fine (as was the old one). Maybe it's not the same voltage to pressure output as a regular map sensor. Anyways, I'm coning to the conclusion that all the sensors, etc are probably fine. If they were off, it would be throwing a check engine light.

At this point I think I'm down to a wastegate issue. Maybe it's bound up and/or cracked partially open or something? I assume I would have to pull off the warm up cat to test it, so that sounds fun.

If the wastegate isn't stuck open and I remove the vacuum line from the actuator, it should overboost, right?

Sorry but it could be a lot ... worse.
Just imagine ... it talks back to you and says:

Hint: it is not the Terminator eye.

Cheers!

Update... I removed the hose going from the solenoid to the actuator and I believe that should eliminate the ecu's ability to control the boost. I still only saw 8.x lbs of boost, so I think I've narrowed it down to the wastegate. I had people check their turbos (currently off the car) and the wastegate door was firmly closed and held in place by (what I assume) the spring in the actuator.

At this point I think I'm down to pulling the turbo from the car which isn't really something I have time for, so it will probably sit for a while. I'll update when I can and will definitely come back to update when the issue is resolved.

I will add that I finally made a point of looking at the stock gauge and it goes to the line 3/4 up the gauge. In between the turbo icon and the + sign at the top. The car drives perfectly other than the lack of boost. No light, no codes, no nothing...

Back for a temporary update... The car randomly started creating normal boost. I suspect the wastegate was stuck open and all of my testing eventually freed it up. I'm addressing other minor issues now (installing sound deadening material, changing fluids, etc), but will probably end up pulling the turbo when time allows this summer.

On a side note, it was an absolute beast during Austin's snowmageddon a few weeks ago. I would love to see what it could do with some decent winter tires.
