used RDX - Is it a good offer

Hello,

I am considering replacing my wife's Audi A4 with a certified used RDX and I found one with tech pkg, running board, roof rack with 17K miles for $42,000 (without tax, tag and title). Is this a good deal? Considering that the 2008 will be there shortly, it feels like this might be to close to what you could get for a new one.

What do you guys think?

PS: For right now I am only considering a used RDX as I want to avoid the 1st year depreciation and both my wife and I do not mind to have a slightly used car.

Thx.

RDX TECH - You can get it for at least $35,000 new, if not less
+$549 for running boards
+$399 for roof rack

The most this could possibly cost you is $37,000 which is less than MSRP of the RDX TECH and then you could add on tax and title etc...

This is $5000 less than the used one you found. Stick to the new one with 2 miles on it

You could wait for the 2008 but you probably won't get such a good deal.

By the way i used Edmunds TMV to get the pricing.

I meant $32,000

I meant $32,000 not $42,000. For 42K, this would be a pretty bad deal...

PS: How do you edit a post?

Oh ok, you click the edit button at the bottom of your post. It's not a bad deal, you would save approx. $5000 but then again it does have 17K so it's your choice whether or not you want a new one or save that money and get that used one.

I don't think that's a horrible deal even with 17k miles. You're getting some extra options. I know people that paid $32K new for the base and Acuras typically have decent resale also

but you might want to see what happens when the 2008s come out as they will want to get rid of the 2007s, prob get a better deal

Look in the "owners sign in" thread for prices that people are actually paying. RDX Tech brand new is going for between $33K and $34K. Unless you really want those options, do not include them in the price calculation. Personally, I would rather pay $1K extra for a brand new RDX.

Yea i agree, get the 2007 RDX Tech for 1K more and you'll have a new one, personally I don't think that the running boards or roof rack add much to the car in terms of styling, the roof rack you may need depending on what you want to carry.

I personally thinks its a bad deal. I purchased a certified RDX Tech w/2500 miles back in April 07 for $32900. Its a lot of miles for a vehicle less than a year old or about one year old. I would try to get about $1200 - 1500 off the price. Good thing of a Certified car is that you get 1yr/12000mile extra on the bumper to bumper or 5yrs/62k. Additionally, you get a 7yr/100k on the power train warranty. Which is not bad overall. My wife car has 7k miles and no problems to the present date.

I do not think He can get a RDX Tech pack for $33k or 34K that would be below invoice. Invoice for the tech is closer to $35K. Most dealer are selling the car for about $300 to 600 above invoice.

I say talk them down to about 30k and it should be a good deal becuase you are going to get the 7 year 100k warranty. However, you have to wonder why a car with such low miles already got traded in? Not saying its a bad thing. Could have just not been the car for them or maybe they went broke and couldn't afford it. I would definatly ask why it was traded in though.

I paid $33,600 for a brand new RDX Tech (plus tax) in California. Maybe prices are higher in other parts of the country.

You should also look into how a used car will affect your insurance, depreciation, and warranty.

Are you able to get the low apr intrest rate? If you are not, this would be a bad deal.

Well it is down to 31000..

Without too much negotiation, they offered it to me at 31000. However, based the feedback, it looks like I could get a new one for 34K leave or take a few hundreds, so 31K still seems a little high.

3K less than new and 6K less than MSRP for a 1 year old car with 17K miles on it, it is approx 9% less than new and approx 17% less than MSRP. (I am not counting the roof rack and runing board as I do not mind having them but would not get them on a new car)...

Doesn't seem like a good deal at all to me. We were able to buy a base RDX (so, concededly, $3000+/- less than a tech), with roof rack, running board, and 7 miles on the ODO for $30,700.

I suspect if you negotiate hard (and have a pair or more of dealers you can bid against one another), depending on the area you live in, you could get a new tech at invoice, with the roof rack and running board basically thrown in free.

I'd pay the 3,000 +/- more for a brand new car any day, solely so I could control how it was handled during the break-in period. If you get the seller down another 1,000, MAYBE I'd consider it, but you still have to consider that those are a lot of miles put on that car in a short time, likely in an unfriendly way.

I bought mine 3 months ago. It was pretty easy to negotiate below invoice back then. Are prices going up now? I'm still seeing prices below invoice in the "sign in" thread.

There is a low miles Acura Certified RDX Tech with body side molding, auto dimming mirror and air dam for $32,999 on eBay under Scanlonacura as seller.
