Turbo Timer - is it necessarily?
I understand the use of turbo timer would maintain your engine in good condition. Is this device necessarily on the RDX though? . I thought about this problem before buying the car. When I get it, this concern totally went to the back of my head haha.
I asked several friends of mine who had experience with a turbo car before. They commented that since the RDX uses such a small all variable engine, you don't really need a turbo timer. Any inputs or suggestions anyone? ? ?

The engine "variable" (valve timing, turbo) have nothing to do with the need for a turbo timer.
In the early days of turbos, they were oil cooled only. Well, more like lubricated, so after a long hot run, the turbo center section would be scorching hot and you would have to sit there for a few minutes idling so the engine oil could be pumped through the bearings and slowly cool them (or else the oil would kinda bake on the turbo). The Turbo Timer just lets your engine run for several minutes while you leave the car, then it will shut it off after a preset amount of time.
With water cooled turbo's and synthetic oil, this is much less of a concern. Also, keep in mind, most of us aren't hard on the gas at all times, so the turbo shouldn't be getting that hot. But the last couple minutes before parking, I typically just drive a bit easier.
The main concern is still shutting the car down immediately after a hard run, which should still be avoided.
