Turbo boost not going all the way up

I don't know If it's my turbo gauge needle that's messed up or not but my needle never hits the positive sign. Also when I change gears at full throttle the turbo drops way too much to half and goes up only to 3/4 max. I have a 0-60 video that I did while ago which I looked at and my turbo gauge is all the way up to max level. There is no warning or check engine light no codes. Wtf I'm scared now :\

here is a video i just took:

before:

i think one way i can find the issue is hook up my scangauge and read the boost PSI digitally and to see whether i'm actually losing boost...

Don't panic yet...

Check all of your intercooler hoses for loose clamps, leaks or cracks. You should easily be able to hear it. Check the vacuum lines for cracks. Check the crappy little BOV. Check the exhaust. A cracked manifold will not allow the spool and thus boost. Although this is unlikely as it spools at low RPM.

Currious to see if you have a code stored anyhow. After you pull codes, you might also try a battery disconnect.

I had that issue (I had 0 boost) and a slew of other problems... Acura replaced the ECU under the goodwill program. Took em a few days to diagnose it tho. Loaner TL FTW

I have an 07 tech btw. 25k miles.

i checked everything and i don't see any cracks or damage under the hood. i have lots of rust underbody but i don't think that matters. i think i have to reset my ECU and lose the hondata flash and see if this solves the problem if all fails ill take it to dealer i guess i still have powertrain warranty.

Im sure they tried it, every light possible light up on the dash, my wife actually is the primary driver of it. I picked it up from her work and drove it to the dealership, about a 4 mile commute, it drove real rough.

well i did some acceleration tests and looks like the power is there :\ so maybe this is all just a problem with gauge not reading the PSI right

Could have a small boost leak, like aforementioned. It happens... how many miles do you have?

i have 57k miles on it. it's starting to freak me out a bit but i can't feel any loss of power or weird noise. I'm very close to going ahead and resetting my ecu...but if there was a leak i wouldn't be getting ~6 second 0-60.

no problem, actually i want to take that back, the pocketdyno app is more accurate but harder to use. you should only use it the countdown feature and not the quickstart. Post results if you can, thx.

PLX KIWI WIFI + imdb....this on my ipad in my dash

displaces everything from the ODBII port....so its not relative, its actual

i use scangauge II for that, connects to ODBII port. It estimated ~290bhp at about 4900-5200rpm. I'm not sure how accurate that is, i do have the hondata flash and honda did underate the K23 by 10-20 horses.

i used scangauge to find the reason why the RDX gets poor highway fuel economy:

sorry for bad quality but basically you can see in the video above that ignition timing is hovering around 18-22. Those are pretty horrible timings and is due to the fact that honda detuned and retarded engine when there is no boost. This way they prevent knocking and allow for a lot more boost at cost of fuel economy. My J32 V6 on the TL gets about 30-36 IGN timings at the highway. Some new gaskets and pistons along with timing advance and ecu mod could seriously raise fuel economy and engine response in this car.

So if anyone is doing engine mods
New pistons, increased valve clearance, Darton sleeves, forged con rods, GSC stg 2 cams, BC springs, new ecu tune would all lead to impressive fuel economy and power. i'm guessing gains of ~50-75 horses and 4-5mpg. Wish acura would do this for us, but of course this might require 94+ octane gas, like the Subaru STI engine.

Have you put more than one full tank of gas through the RDX since this has happened?

It's wintertime, so chances are that you got a bad load of gas (water in gas).

Ease through this tank until it's gone, then refill to the top at another gas station. Good idea to add a fuel system cleaner that removes water (Techron) or add a bottle of ISO-HEET. Make sure you use ISO-HEET (red bottle) and not the regular HEET (blue bottle).

it has lots of displays that you can program such as manifold air pressure, intake air temprature, ignition timing, fuel flow, fuel trim, MPG, speed, boost and so on. just google scangauge II.

yes i have tried that i regularly clean the tank with PEA based fuel system cleaners. I think for now it's the gauge itself that's messed up. i feel no loss of power and the numbers are really good.

Going back to the OP, the needle in my turbo gauge also never seems to hit the + mark.

What is seen in your first video is basically what I see in my car.

I'm not really concerned though. I don't feel any perceptible loss of power.

^That^ is your first post? Was this a spur of the moment thing?

Pickler, if you are pulling anywhere close to 290hp peaks from the RDX, nothing is wrong under the hood.

ok so that's one person that seems to have my problem. this basically confirms that its a glitch with either the boost gauge or the boost sensor.

ok today i changed the engine air filter and the boost goes all the way up now!? huh? i don't get it...the old filter was dirty but nothing crazy. the conditions of the intercooler is horrendous. full of bug guts and dirt. dealership said they cant do jack shit about it. i'm too scared to bend the vents or brake it so i cant touch it. how do you guys clean your intercooler?

I have the kiwi wifi + imbd, using Rev with my iphone and a vent mount. Someday I will also be adding oil temp and pressure with the imbd, but for now that jack is mt.

I moved the connecter inside the dash and ran the wire under the mat and into the console. The power switch is on the transmitter at the end of the cable. (Turn it off before you get out.)

The downside is one ~2" gauge with a small digital readout in each corner(4) for a total of five metrics per configuration.

You can select any of the other 4 to display and drag them to the center spot to fully display.

You create and save the configs.

You can save data runs, and put in the cars actual weight and you get whp and torque as well.

It is nice to see real numbers for all the important things. Should have had real factory gauges. I am happy with it overall.

Your ipad should make those corner readouts much bigger and eaiser to read. Do they make ipad dash mounts?

Right on, I love your idea. I paid $231.07 for the PLX delivered.
The Rev app was $39.

My phone gets pretty warm when it runs constant.

Expect slightly more heat from an ipad.

Happy to see someone else is looking for a gauge and data solution.

He is saying in dash, which is sweet.

I can't wait to see pics.

I want to see how much bigger the gauge is on the pad vs phone.

My gauge is ~ 1 7/8". I will use my friends pad and compare size.

May help to get a cooler or fan mounted behind it, my phone gets quite warm when running the rev program for extended periods.

D C graphics look good. Do you own this set up yet?

If so, can you give a bit of description of the display configuration?
