Trading the RDX?
#41
Hey I was in the same position I just traded in my 06 civic si for a new 09 Rdx since im also expecting a second baby I think the Rdx is perfect not big or too small you should keep it this is the best choice I did it's better than a mini van unless I had 8 kids .

The Odyssey is slightly more practical than the Pilot, but I prefer driving characteristics of the latter. The '09 Pilot is a true 8-passenger vehicle (I'm 5'11", and was perfectly comforable riding around in the third row during a test drive), and has all the technology features that the RDX has, plus the rear entertainment system. Honda is having a tough time selling them, as evidenced by the fact that you can buy the top of the line Touring w/ Rear Entertainment System ($40K MSRP) for $32-$33K. As soon as I sell the cars we're currently trying to get rid of, I'll be faxing bid requests to the 20 closest Honda dealerships, with the goal of getting a loaded Pilot for under $35K (including 8% sales tax).
Still, can't go wrong with the Odyssey. Best of luck with baby #2!

I can see how an Odyssey would be more convenient with two kids especially if they're really young. But my kids are currently 11 and 9 so I don't have problems with stollers, child seats, baby bags, etc anymore. Even though my kids are tall for their age we feel the RDX is perfect for us. The RDX is our family car after all. So we drove it mostly everywhere we go especially on long trips. Did a road trip from Oklahoma to Los Angeles, up to San Fran, down to Vegas and back to OK. Went to Orlando and back once. South Padre island twice. Only a few times did we wish the RDX have a little bit more space especially with a week or two long trips. All the luggage, shopping bags can sometimes take up all the space back there and you have to be kinda creative on how you stack your bags behind the rear seat to make them fit.
I guess it all depends on you....I personally would stick with the RDX especially if you're going to take a big hit on the trade in. It's not that bad to manage with the RDX in your situation, you will feel like you need more space sometimes but like some other was saying you wont be taking a long trip anyways with kids that young. But what the Odyssey and any other minivan have is that pass through feature between the two front seats to access the 2nd row seat. That work wonders during kids emergencies believe me.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Good point. 2 kids will be ok in the RDX.
But we are thinking of having a third baby 3-4 years down the road. I currently have a 14mth son and another baby that will be born around Mar/Apr. I dont think 3 kids will work out in the RDX (each being 2 years apart). If I wait to trade the RDX a few years down the road, I will probably get a worse trade in deal from what Im being offered right now which I was offered for around 24k. Im kinda wavering back and forth if I should do it or not. I have until the end of this month to think about it.

Edit: oops, too late.

I have a 3.5 year old little girl who sits in her forward facing seat behind the pass. seat and a car carrier seat for our baby boy, that is in the middle and it fits perfectly between the two front seats...

I have a rear facing carrier type seat behind the passenger and a forward facing seat behind the driver. I have the armrest open for my daughter to put drinks and stuff. If there is no other option then you can sit in the middle (armrest up of course), but it is not at all comfortable. With the carseats behind the passenger and center (like GOTTSPD) you can use the seat behind the driver, but you will not be able to fasten the seatbelt. I chose my layout to make it easier loading and unloading the children.
