TPMS Replacement

I needed new tires and still have the original TPMS sensors on my 2007 RDX so I ordered replacement sensors from Acura. Will I need to take my RDX to a dealer to have it relearn the new sensors or will it automatically pick them up?

I couldn't find anything RDX specific online, but I did find mixed results for other Acura models.

New sensors should sync after driving for a while. But, was there any sign you needed to replace them other than age? I'm at 180k miles on my 2010 and haven't lost a sensor yet. My wife's 2008 Fit (140k) is on all original as well. Honda sensors seem to last an eternity. I had 3 our of 4 die on my old Chevy within 6 years/80k miles.

I was actually at the tire shop when I created this post. I went there assuming they would sync based on what I have previously read...the mechanic said otherwise...he was wrong. They sync'd within a quarter mile and actually showed the previous sensor psi numbers until that happened.

To answer your question, there was no indication they were going bad...but 13 years seemed like a good run and I needed new tires. As you say, they last a long while which is why I stuck with OEM...but my luck is they would fail before I needed tires again. Sensors plus new nut and washer were $35 each online. It would have cost me $15-20 each just to install if one failed at a later date.

True, there is of course that gamble since you're paying for tire installation again you have to swap outside of a planned tire replacement. I plan to wait until mine kick, so maybe in a few years I'll be able to give an idea of how long they actually last. Or maybe not. haha

Yep...it's in post number 3

Spoiler Alert: the new sensors sync'd automatically.

Can confirm; I just swapped over to my winter rims and while the TPMS lamp lit for a second it didn't last and I never got a warning message.
