Tint on RDX with tech package

I live in FL and even now its hot and the black interior doesn't help when getting in the car after its been parked under the hot sun. I am thinking of getting the windows tinted all-around (except the front windshield). I have the tech package and reading on different forums, people advise using non-metallic film. A local FormulaOne installer has quoted me $300 for FormulaOne Pinnacle Series Ceramic tint film. I was wondering whether its absolutely necessary to have a ceramic tint for non-interference with the navigation signals (I hardly listen to AM radio).

Also if you have tinted your tech package RDX what brand did you use and what was the price range.

Thanks,
jakas

I prefer metalliac films. If you find a dealer that carries Llumar films you won't have a problem with their metalliac film interferring with your navi. Just a suggestion.

The nav antenna is in the front dash under the windshield so it shouldn't be a problem no matter what kind if tint you use on the other windows.

Hey, Sasair... did you see this in the '08 Owners' Manual?

GPS Reception Issues

The signals received from the GPS satellites are extremely weak (less than a millionth of the strength of a local FM station), and require an unobstructed view of sky. The signal can easily be interrupted or interfered with by the following:

• After-market metallic window tint above or to the sides of the GPS antenna (located under the dash)

I honestly think that warning is there just that.. as a warning. Seriously look into Llumar window films and I guarantee you won't have a problem with the reception. Jakas where in florida are you located?

Sounds to me like they are telling you not to tint your front windshield.

I was under the impression that cars with nav. HAD to use non-metallic films. But having the antenna in the front seemes to make sense.

Is anyone running full metallic tint, and can you see a difference in signal strength?

$300 for F1 Pinnacle seems like a good deal..I was quoted $500!!

I am running full metalliac (not on the winshield) tint (5% rears, 20% front) on my 07 TL-S.. I'm aware that this is the RDX board, however, the navi antenna and electronics are the same platform (I believe) If I knew where in FL this guy/gal was located I would be more than happy to see who the Llumar dealers are in the area
