Time to order mine

I am working with my dealer who informed me this week that they will be
ordering RDXs around May 20th. Being 1st on the list assures me that if they
receive what they order, mine will be in the first batch to arrive.

With the Technology Package a must, trying to decide on the color is next.
Since Acura has not released more specs yet, here is what I have found
from the various pics and Acura's web info so far on the combo's:

Exterior - Interior
Carbon Gray Pearl - ???
Alabaster Silver Metallic - Black
Moroccan Red Pearl - Tan
Carbon Bronze Pearl - ???
Royal Blue Pearl - ???
White Diamond Pearl - Tan
Nighthawk Black Pearl - Black

Can anyone provide the missing info on the interior colors?

With what Colin has already stated, that the orders precede the actual arrival
by 3 months, this puts late July as the expected at-dealer date.

Red - Compare

My wife is first on our local dealer's list - any opinion on how the Moroccan Red looks? e.g. how does it compare to the Redondo & Milano Reds on the TL/TSX etc.?

Acually, our initial (July) allocation is being determined by the Acura zone office. They are determining quantities, and color selection and we will "get what we get". The first orders we place where we can choose colors and trim levers will be in early June for August production.

Update on my order

My dealer has provided me with additional information.

Factory rep states the official release will be on July 27, confirming what we have already heard. Also, my dealer will submit their orders in June around the 20th. The RDX are to arrive at the dealers in August.

More when I get more info.....

I really hope you're leaving a refundable deposit and that's all? You do plan on driving it first right???

Why?

Yes, I do have a refundable deposit placed on 1/5/05.

Yes, I will drive it before buying it.

I do expect it to live up to Acura's level of providing a great car to drive.

Having owned a number of Honda's and Acura's I know it will not disappoint me.

Coming from a 99 CR-V that I gave to my son, this will be a major step up.

I am currently driving my wife's 04 MDX and while I love the power, it just drives too big for me. The RDX is what I have been looking for. So having a refundable deposit would only coming in handy they cancelled the RDX, not going to happen.

Just checking on the deposit, sounds like you're on the ball. Some other posters have written it off without a drive, I was concerned you were doing the opposite and buying without driving. Best of luck for your negotiations!

We got color brochures at the dealership here yesterday from the district sales rep. There are only 2 interior colors. Ebony and Taupe (like RL taupe). ALL EXTERIOR COLORS will come with BOTH ebony and taupe.

I wrote it off without a drive a got my $1,000 back. Don't need to drive when they release stats that didn't live up to "efficiency" claims.

"Negotiate"? Surely, you jest? I promise not to call you Shirley again...

RDX Soon

My dealer says that I will be able to place my order before the end of May! For delivery in June? He said that we will be able to order colors and configuration for this delivery. He stated that it was not a case of them getting an alotment of cars that those of us with early deposits (#3) could chose from, but that we could order what we wanted. I am not sure and will not accept delivery until I can get what I want and take a good test drive. Some of the things that I find unsettled (other than the prices) are the lack of a roof rack and towing package in the accesories listing.

P.S. I have been lerking for months and have finally decide to post. My wife calls this forum "the drool crew".

there is no reason why this car shouldnt be able to tow the same abount as the MDX. It is built of the same chassis (close enough anyways), same j-series transmission (not a k-series Auto even though its a k23 turbo, it is a MDX tranny), and it have MORE TORQUE than the v6 MDX.

The Towing capacity should be the same...

You've been selling Acuras for 6 years and you're not yet 24? Hard to believe Acura would not include pricing with publication of official dealer brochure.

Ha ha, you are new to the Honda world! They NEVER release pricing until just before the cars ship.

NEW INFO, we just ordered our cars for the may "MOVE" (once a month new car order) and the RDX was NOT ORDERED. So.....what does this mean????

1. we will not order again till this time in june.
2. cars built in ohio usually take 2 1/2 months to get here at least after we order.
3. do the math. if we get to order in June, those cars wont show till september.

I am sure we will get cars in the meantime, like in early august, but we will not choose the colors and options.

Colin mentioned this earlier in the month. He said that Honda corporate is deciding the allotments for the first group of RDXs to arrive on dealer lots.

I just heard that the Ride and Drive introductions will be around July 15-20th. Either these will be VERY close to the release, or the car are coming in August.

RDX Interior color

Is everyone sure that the taupe interior color for the rdx is going to be like the rl's taupe which looks grey. It looks tan in the pictures.

Time to order?

I just recieved this email from my sales rep.

"Subject: Acura RDX order

I am contacting all of our customers regarding the Acura RDX. We have been communicating with the Factory Reps regarding our order date for the RDX, which should have been the end of May. We have been advised that the placement of the RDX orders will be sometime this month. They have not given the offical delivery date as yet. The anticipation of the new RDX was said to be arriving by July 20th, but may be delayed due to factory schedules and production.

Your RDX order is one of the first one's to be placed as soon as they give us the OK."

Not much new information but I thought I would pass on what I have.

I got an email confirmation today that Friday would be the order date for my RDX! Still no word on the delivery date
They still will not tell me the base $, the feature details or $ for a roof rack, towing (very limited) or $ for the tech package and I still have no real idea what the colors look like. I am going on vacation that day for a week and do not want to miss out on this opportunity and do not want to waste my early order deposit on something that I do not want to purchase. Does anybody have any hints on the $ for these items or links on how RED the Moroccan Red is?

I can assure you that they are "not telling you" prices for the car and accessories, because they do not know them yet. If you think the dealer is deliberately withholding pricing information you are sorely mistaken. This is how Honda/Acura does things.

I've seen a color chip of the Morrocan Red and it looks a lot like the current MDX red, possibly a bit more maroon in color (darker). As for delivery dates, I've just heard that production has been pushed back a few weeks. I'll have more on this when I get some details tomorrow, so don't everyone PM me.

I agree the dealers do not have all the specifics as this is a marketing ploy by Honda/Acura to gauge interest and then apply the law of supply and demand. In other words, the customer is going to pay extra to drive the RDX. Honda/Acura knows the cost of production of the RDX to the penny. It's now simply how much profit they want to build into the MSRP. As far as accessories, Honda/Acura wll have them available as dealer installed options. They make a bunch of money selling/installing them, e.g. I was quoted $519 to install fog lights on my wife's '06 Honda Civic EX Coupe, even though the system is pre-wired and at most is a 30 minute job to install a $100 light kit at wholesale.

P.S. I e-mailed my Acura dealer yesterday PM so am hoping to hear from him today as to the status of ordering, etc. Will report what I know ASAP.

I met with Acura tonight and they will be placing my order tomorrow 6/9 for a Moroccan Red one with the Tech Package. The little color chip was similar to the red TL but a little darker and looks good.
Delivery ? best guess is somewhere between 7/20 and 8/10. Pricing information is still unavailable.

Good news; bad news. I bought a '06 RL yesterday. Couldn't wait for the RDX. However, I did verify that Monday is deadline for ordering for dealer stock only. The dealer I deal with is getting four; I was on top of the list. I guess somelse else will be very happy. Ordering for the general public will be in July sometime, I think, since there were so many dates posted on my salesperson's memo he had on his bulletin board, and I tried to memorize as many as possible. Acura wants the RDX to be 100% from Day 1. A RDX will be at the Formula 1 race in Indy for display only. The Ride & Drives are not until next month staggered among the Acura execs/salespersons. Acura is really going to hype the RDX since the new MDX will probably be too high priced for a lot of persons, as Acura is moving upscale in pricing. Looks like the Gray, Silver and Red will be the most popular colors at release.

Thanks for the info, Colin. After deciding I didn't want to trade in my TL (I go through that sometimes, the last time a few weeks ago), I am mulling over trading in the wife's Accord for the RDX or taking advantage of the rock-bottom pricing I can get for an RL nowadays. With a new son, the RDX offers enough room for his stuff. Just have to talk the wife, who'd be driving it, into wanting it.
