those who drove through a winter last year...
Guys, if you had a bad winter last year, and was driving through snowed roads, make sure you check your RDX paint when you wash your car.
After washing it, I took a look at the paint surface (mine's pearl white) and there were all these grit (black and brownish) ingrind in the paint. Small little dots... When you stand far away, they are not noticeable... the issue here is, these grit can potentially cause damage to your paint surface...
I took some P21S paint cleanser, and after 3 hours of hard work, only managed to get at the four door panels. These grit were really lodged into the paint surface.
For those with darker coloured metallic paints, you may not even see it. But it's there. Just run your finger over the paint surface (especially the lower part of the door panels), if it does not feel glassy smooth, but rather kind of "gritty"... then those winter pollutant/fallout road grime/grit is there.
I REALLY REALLY dislike winter...
Today is simply the first pass at the cleansing of the paint... I will have to go at it again a second time to totally remove them, before I even attempt to put on the wax...
Detailing a car is not simply polishing and waxing... sometimes you will need to go down deep and remove the contaminants before protecting the surface with wax.

Why don't you clay & ZAINO it? I did it when it was new, & don't see any winter "dots" on it. I do have a darker color, which helps, but Zaino REALLY keeps the Crap off!

Yeah, I really dislike winter too! I've got lots of light scratches all over, mostly on the A pillers, the hood and the roof from all the sand and salt hitting my car on the highway. I'm going to have my work cut out for me to try and polish them all out.

As bad as i thought it would be, the polished metallic held up really well..a few blizzards, lotta crap this winter more than usual....it snowed more in the northeast this winter than any winter i can remember in the last 10 years......threw a coat of wax on the car in the beg of december and had it cleaned up at the dealer a few times....compared to my CX-7 from the 06-07 winter, the acura held up 100x's better. 1 winter, the black cherry paint on my 7 from the door handles down was, no word of a lie, DESTROYED. there were carved in white scratches and scuffs looked like the truck went thru a wind tunnel of sand and salt and rock. horrible. needless to say, i expected the worst and got the best from the RDX.

mine is the same color as yours. I was planning on taking into the dealership to show, but may just get her detailed very good after spring ends.

I used P21S paint cleanser and the "rust" spots and some road grit came off easily. But some really embedded road grit stayed on, so I think I will try out the mothers clay system to see if I can get those grit out.

Clay is a great thing to get rid of those yellow dots. I noticed those little dots on my RDX after just 1 (brutal) winter (Pearl white). Also my wife's Rendezvous (also whitish and new). I used Maquire's clay kit and everything looks factory again with MINIMAL effort. Very Slick. It just removes any type of crap, tar- dots etc that's stuck on the paint. I recommend this to anyone who wants to retain the just like new look on their vehicle.

Thanks, Tom.
How many times do you think the clay bar can be reused?

I've done the two vehicles and it's still pretty much the same size. (You get two bars in the kit I bought anyway) You just keep kneading it as you go. If you notice that the clay surface gets dirty- just knead it and keep on going. Just don't drop it. If you do- throw it away because you'll be etching your paint with little bits of dirt off your garage floor. This stuff is very slick. Try it!

I just clayed my RDX this evening, and yes, the Mothers claybar does work really well. The effort to remove those yellow/brown spots and the grit is quite easy. I was initially quite concerned with scratching the paint, but with proper use of the Mothers detailer lubricant, it was quite safe and easy. Defintiely worth the money.

Glad it worked for you. The clay system is truly amazing and with minimal labor to boot. Keep your clay bar handy and I'll allow you the pleasure of re-doing my RDX whenever you're on the opposite side of the continent

I am waiting for a good sunny weekend, to cleanse the paint with the P21S, and put on a layer or two of the KLASSE paint protectant sealant.

Folks liking to have a clean looking car is a problem???
If you don't have anything positive to add, I suggest you grow up or take your thoughtless and mindless comments elsewhere. Life can't be that boring...
