Switch RDX to metric???? for Canada
Hi. My in-laws just bought a US acura RDX with tech package. Its an 2008 with only 3000 miles. It was a lease vehicle. Now the problem is that the temp on the front dash is in Farenheit and the speed and odometer is in miles. Anyway to change the temp to celsius and the odo display unit to celsius and kilometers.
IF NOT then has anyone bought a Instrument cluster that has the metric system on it and the front dash display and changed it out? How much did it cost. Thanks! If its not too expensive i'd change it out myself, but have to get the odo reading updated to the proper kilometers at the acura dealership. Thanks!!1!

Umm, i just looked at the user guide for the RDX that's posted online...
Pg 74: Outside temperature display. This shows the outside temperature in Fahrenheit (U.S. models), or in Centigrade (Canadian models).
So, as far as I know, you can't change the MID to display celsius instead of fahrenheit. It looks like this is a US/Canada model difference. You can however adjust the temperature reading if you think it is off by a few degrees. Also, I'm pretty sure you are stuck with the speedometer with the MPH being primary and the kilometers per hour being secondary...
Also, from reading the forum, it looks like the U.S. model of the RDX doesn't have a low windshield wiper fluid warning light either.
Maybe someone with the thick RDX service guide can chime in about how feasible it is to change out the gauges...

I looked at the thick user manual and couldn't find anymore than you mentioned "plausible." It baffles my mind that you can't just push a button and it converts things for you.

This also annoys me a good deal. ![Frown](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
While I'm used to the centigrade measurement of temperature, for tire pressure and fuel economy I'm used to PSI and MPG. I fail to understand why a luxuy car like RDX (entry model or not) is unable to do something much cheaper cars can.
Well, I'm slowly getting used to kPa and l/100km. But still it's something I'd expect better from Acura.

anyone know how easy it would be to replace the temp/display on the foward dash with a metric one is and how much it would cost. I'm supprised you cant even hook up the computer to a machine to change the units to metric. (at least the digital readouts)

Most surprising indeed!
Even my old '94 Grand Cherokee (limited) used to display inside and outside temperature in F or C, and the onboard computer would display MPG or l/100 Km. You just had to press one button "US/Metric system" on the overhead console.
From experience (well not exactly the same, but for example, changing a "manual AC unit" to an "Auto AC unit" in a european car proved to be such a pain that we finally gave up my friend and I) these kind of things can be a real pain to the point where the energy and sometime ressources you need to put in the project is not even worth it.
But maybe you'll be lucky and it will be as easy as "swapping a electronic chip or module with another"...
