Snow dump in mass yesterday...

Left work early yesterday, as the snow was really coming down, and I live out on the western part of Mass., didn't want to take the chance of the heavy snow potentially causing a traffic jam. The road conditions on MA-2 was pretty bad and slick, but the RDX handle it with no real issues on my yokohamas all-season V4S. But I was not crazy enough or daring enough to try to go faster than 45 mph, everyone else was also doing the same. Back in the town area, driving was a bit more challenging as the country roads were not well shovelled, I think the local authorities was not prepared for the sudden snow dump. Turning into some smaller roads was quite tricky, and some of them was slightly sloping up and others sloping down, with some turning around 120 degrees. The RDX rear wheels slipped at some instances, but the SH-AWD managed to get the vehicle rear back on track once I lift off the throttle.
I also saw a car accident where it was flipped over on its roof.

I really don't like the snow...

Not when you are not expecting it to. It can be quite scary.

Exactly. And if you have cars around you, having your tail swing a bit, is not fun... Wide open space, no cars around you, sure, doing drift outs can be exhilarating...

I find the SH-AWD great on the RDX in the snow and slush...getting a great set of winter tires will only give you better control in bad conditions.

Snow and slush is no problem for the OEM tires. Ice is where you will need to be more cautious.

Are you in California? If yes, are you a native of that state? If yes, then you are probably not used to actually running the oem tires in snow/slush. up to a certain snow level (< 2 inch), the oem still would be fine, but once the snow gets like 6-8 inches, it becomes a different story.

Yes to both questions. I have indeed driven in snow and slush with the OEM tires. As long as you are not driving like a maniac and are driving responsibly, they will be okay.

If you are in an area that gets that much snow daily, the sensible thing to do is to get a set of winter tires.
