Side mirrors angling down in reverse

Hi,

My passenger side mirror angles down when backing up, but my driver's side does not. Does anyone know if the driver's side is also supposed to angle down when the vehicle is in reverse?

Only the right side mirror has this feature. To see how far the left side of your car is from the curb, stick your head out the window.

I believe that the selector switch drives which mirror goes down (ie if driver's side mirror is selected, then that mirror goes down and vice versa).

really? I noticed the right side went down at one point, but not anymore. I have to check the selector to see where it's positioned and test it out.

Only the passenger side mirror will tilt. The selector has to be set to the passenger mirror for the passenger side mirror to go down. If it is in the driver or neutral position, the mirror will not tilt down.

True story. I wish both would, or at least the option. My friends CL did.. not sure about other models.

You should be able to swap between driver side and passenger side, by using the switch. At least that's how it was in my '08 MDX and is in my '07 RDX.

Ha ha, I'm the idiot that took it in cuz it "stopped working" after owning my '07 RDX for a week or so, I noticed it wasn't going down... only after I fiddled with that toggle switch... Luckily that wasn't the main thing I was having it serviced for - some other warranty issues. Anyway, I'm not sure my driver's side goes down if that toggle is switched to that side... I'll be checking that tonight

Checked mine tonight and my '07 RDX only has the reverse option for the passenger mirror.

I'm pretty sure my '08 MDX had the option on both mirrors.

My 07 TL works whichever mirror you toggle the switch to.

I am surprised they bothered to omit the driver side on this feature. TL, RL, MDX, ZDX will tilt on either side, but not, at least the early RDX. I no longer have access to Honda OM, the site seems to be closed to me now.

Does anyone know if they deleted the driver tilt feature on the TSX?

From the 07 RDX manual

Reverse Mirror Tilt
With the selector switch in the R
(right) position, the passenger’s side
mirror will pivot downward slightly
when you shift the transmission into
reverse. This gives you a better view
of the side of the vehicle while
parallel parking. The mirror returns
to its original position when you take
the transmission out of reverse.
Turn this feature off by leaving the
selector switch in the left or center
position
