should I change tranny ATF
Car has about 40K miles, last time I was at the dealer and they talked me out of changing the fluid and just wait before service #3 comes up. Well, it sounds that it usually comes up at 50-60K miles, maybe even as late as 80K miles. so I am not sure what to do, its kind of strange that they talked me out of it, its like turning down business

i change every 30k. best thing to do. i was noticing rough gear changes and really just rougher operation approaching 30k. with the change, restored to normal. ive never waited longer than 30k to change any ATF in any car that ive owned. dont care what Acura says. especially with the more taxing turbo

did you just tell them you want to change tranny fluid, and they did not even advise you to wait till your MID says to do so? I should just go there and say, "I want this, do it bi*otch!"

no - they gave me the same lingo of waiting till the MID. I gave them the order, dont care what the mid says, the tranny is shifting rough and accelerating rough. that fluid is coming out. like i stated above, ive done tranny service every 30k in any car ive owned, that, at least to my knowledge and background, has been the recommended mileage in which to do the service. when i feel the tranny acting differently and im around the 30k mark, no computer or service person is going to tell me otherwise.

This is a pretty easy DIY.
Get a case of ATF-Z1 and do 3 drain/refills of about 4 quarts each. Drive the car briefly after each fill. On the last fill, use a new drain crush washer.
This gives a very good fluid exchange and my dealer always gives me 10% off on a case of ATF-Z1.
I fill through the dipstick tube using a covered quart funnel with shut-off and thin nylon tubing.
