service indicator for oil change is up

It's been over 5 weeks since we arrived in Seattle from our 3200 mile east-west coast drive from Boston. But because we had been staying at a hotel for a bit while waiting for our home to become available to move into, never had the chance to go change the oil. Anyway, will probably do it tonight, since my household goods, with my tools, just arrived last night. The MID is indicating 5% oil. Will be using pennzoil platinum @ $20 for 5 qt. Can't wait to get that fresh oil into the engine.

Is Pennzoil any good? Are you using synthetic? I've always used Mobil1 fully synthetic in my Accord and now in my RDX. I think the RDX manual calls for Mobil1 oil and filter. I made the mistake of getting a filter from Acura for my last oil change.

Pennzoil platinum synthetic is a very good oil. Have used it after the first oil change with Mobil 1 3 years ago. Engine runs smooth like the day I took ownership 3.5 years ago. Have also been using FRAM extra guard oil filters. At $25 a DIY oil change, and doing it 4 times a year = $100, it is worth it to ensure the engine runs smooth.

Recently also just had rear differential fluid changed at Acura of Bellevue. It has been over 2 years since I changed out the rear differential fluid.

Generally I focus mainly on the critical fluid changes, which I strongly believe is key to having a smooth running car.

Pennzoil Platinum and Ultra are superb oils. It is what I use my RDX as it's cheap and highly rated oil with a good mix of additives.

Filter I use is Bosch Premium with filtech technology. I have also used WIX, both great filters.

I'm going to switch the RDX's rear diff and transmission fluid over to Amsoil universal ATF, I tested it one of my honda's which got atf-z1 every other oil change due to the sensitivity of this tranny, the Amsoil made the car feel like new again, shifts are crisp and smooth (yes that is right!), i think it's also giving my better fuel economy (I am tracking it with my scangauge) and also gave me back lost power (felt it in my butt dyno hehe)

There is nothing wrong with the RDX shift quality, but now that I've seen what Amsoil has done to my other vehicle, I'd like to give the RDX the same diet. (all 3 of my cars are filled with Pennzoil Platinum, share the same filters.... makes it easy to purchase fluids when on sale)
