Wondered if anyone is having problems with excessive rock chips on the front of their RDX. Anyone installed the clear bra and any opinions on its performance and whether it's worth the money?

 

Compared to my 04 TSX, the RDX paint has held up much better overall (chips, scratches and swirls); both were carbon gray. I did have 3M's version of paint film installed on both cars and am very pleased with it. Depending on the color it can be quite noticable, I've heard lighter/white can show the worst. On my color you can only see at at certain angles.

The dealer that I bought my TSX from didn't offer the "paint protection/clear bra" service so I was able to go straight to the local place that installs the film which eliminated the dealer mark up (about $200!). I bought my RDX at a different dealer that did offer the service and was able to talk them down a bit on price since they were trying to move the last of the '07 RDXs. Hope this helps

 

The clearbra definitely helps but I see less evidence of rock hitting the front of the RDX compared with my G35 which sits a lot lower. I think the clearbra is a worthy investment for me and my wife because we live in the parts of CA where there's usually a lot of trucks on the freeways.

 

Some paint is softer than others so a Clearbra is definitely beneficial for those soft paints. Sounds like our RDX paint isn't too soft so thats good. Now I've got to price out an install and see what that could set me back. What are you guys paying?

wouldn't own a quality car w/o having at least some ClearBra put on it. I do the hood, splash areas, back of mirrors. Well worth it!
