Reverse and side mirrors

I first noticed this feature on my buddies BMW 525XI. Its quite cool, you throw it into reverse and both side mirrors point down so you can see if your going to rub the curb.

I noticed this feature on the RDX as well but its weird, it only does it for the passenger side mirror and the mirror adjustment switch must be on the R side (if its on the centre or L side it wont do anything to the mirrors)

Is this how it is?

Yes

I guess Acura assumes that every street is a 2 way thus you will always park with the passenger side to the curb. I had to look in the book after my mirror stopped working and sure enouph the mirror adjustment knob was in the center. Move it to the r position and walla. A nifty option that could have been better with both mirrors tilting.

I think they are more or less playing percentages here. Most of the time, in north america, you will park with your right side to the curb. And when parking with the right side to the curb, your drivers side mirror is usually not preferred to be tilted down so that you can see behind you to the left where the car behind you is and traffic is coming from and not down into the ground.

That said, I think they should have made it so that you could move the switch to the left so that the left driver's side would tilt on it's own and the passenger side would stay up.

When you parallel park on the left side of the street, just use the low tech method and stick your head out the window to see how far you are from the curb.

++1! it's so much easier to park on the left side anyways without having to use the mirror.

On every other model (except the TSX) which ever side you leave the switch on will be the side that tilts down. Just another case of Acura stickin it to the 4 cylinder crowd.

Thanks all! I had forgotten about this feature until I noticed this thread. I remember the salesman mentioning it, but never realized you control it with the window adjust switch - no wonder it "never works"! Duh!
