Really, what's there to watch out for?

Thinking about the RDX yesterday, I realize that our trusty little SUV/CUV has been out for some time now, with even a mild redesign.
Since I am always "car shopping", thinking and talking about what will be my next car, I have talk to some people about other cars and the question always comes up, or someone just mentions it, "be careful of _____" " make sure that they replaced the _______" and similar things.

Aside from all the "lacks" (no rear AC vents, no hood struts, no heated back seat (passenger's side), and the list goes on and on), and the poor fuel consumption, there are no real issues with the RDX, at least none that I can think about.

Do you guys agree? and if not, what would you tell someone buying a used RDX to look out for?

You're right. It seems like a pretty solid vehicle so far.

I narrowed my RDX w/ tech choice by the 07-09 body style, the color I wanted (Morrocan Red Pearl in 07-08), Hondata reflash availibility (07-09 models), and memory seats (08-09).

I was left with looking for an 08 model for many months until I found the right one.

I would tell someone to know the changes of each model year and decide what will work best for them. I'm close to 50,000 miles on the odo and I really can't tell someone what to watch out for on the RDX? Maybe don't expect I-4 gas mileage from the RDX.

^ Lol, that's a good one. I don't know why people expect high mpg from an SUV. 4 cyl or not, it's still taller and heavier than an avg car and it's not going to get 30 mpg.

The Equinox gets 32mpg, and it's not even a hybrid.
I do understand your point, but the RDX is ridiculous when it comes to mpgs. For someone to sacrifice space for a smaller SUV and not get the benefit of fuel economy is pretty bad. Also, when you are also "sacrificing" the two extra cylinders and going for a 4cyl Turbo (thinking it would be more efficient than a 6) and it's not, it's also sad.
I am not trying to re-make the threads about fuel consumption though, so, back to topic.

PS, didn't I see "banned" under your name a couple of days ago? What happened?

All mods had that as their user title. It was for April Fools.

I would tell them to watch out for the TPMS system. I've had nothing but problems with mine since I got it. The other thing is paint quality/durability. My Royal Blue Pearl chips pretty easy despite my best efforts.

Yeah, you are still dealing with the TMPS system. Any updates? aside from "it's a soft error"?
Paint? meh, that's something that will not kill the car, and can easily be fixed RELATIVELY inexpensive. That wont make you visit the shop either unless you want to. I am thinking more along the lines of the car being inoperable/broken.

I agree with the OP. RDX seems a pretty solid package without apparent shortcomings considering what is currently available from Honda/Acura.

Some might want a 6 speed tranny, but coming from a 2nd gen TL with its notorious tranny problem I'd rather take a reliable 5 speed over an unproven 6 speed.

Costco fills with Nitrogen.

Love the Nitrofill site claims I can save $250/year if I fill my tires with Nitrogen!!!

I second that, I had an 02 TL that had 4 tranny's in it. Acura stepped up everytime though it went.

I also have this problem with my TSX and TL. Everytime it get's really cold, you have to fill up at least one tire. Maybe Nitro is it.

id say watch out for spending 38-40k on an RDX and spend 5k more and get everything on that LONG LIST of features missing in an Acura or strongly consider saving a considerable amount of money if performance is not an issue and look at a Honda or other similar vehicles in the non/near lux bracket. with that said, at the current RDX price point, especially in TECH pkg, it looks like a donkey these days for that kind of cash. The original style in comparison, especially with front lip, running boards, rear diffuser, looks amazingly better.

You totally missed the point of the thread.....Yeah, the Q5 is a better car in your opinion, you have made that very clear. So, what's there to look out for in a Q5?

We haven't had a SINGLE issue in 4 and a half years. Well, aside from a headrest rattle which was easily solved, and the "Acura" emblem coming unglued from the engine, which are barely even worth mentioning.
