RDX Steering Wheel

I have always been of the opinion that the RDX really cheaped out with the steering wheel, and shifter. I was in a co-workers previous generation Honda CRV , and that car has a lovely leather wrapped steering wheel. I do not get this.

They fix this in the 2013 model. I agree with the cheapness. I love how they started with big grip extension on the wheel with full perferated leather and ended with vinyl at the bottom. They got lazy after that they didn't bother to give us a leather wrapped shift knob. Thanks Acura.

I purchased the leather shift knob and it feels and looks soooo much better. I wish Acura would provide auto shift on the console like my 06 TSX. I guess Acura cheaped out on the shifter because once you shift it into gear, you will not touch it again until you put it in park.

Unacceptable! Oh well, it’s going on my future mod list.

The leather knob does make a huge difference, when we test drove the RDX, it had the sport knob. When ours was delivered it had the rubber knob and I noticed immediately.

90 something dollars later shipped, it was a 10 min install, and bam, feeling great. The stitching is a nice compliment to the wheel too.

I actually use sport mode all the time, either to hold a gear longer in traffic or to have fun, so I am shifting more than the average bear I suppose.

I think I will get it. Has anyone upgraqded the steering wheel? I remeber a dealer had one with a leather shifter with a grey steering wheel.

I agree with Pickler. The plastic trim bothers me more than the missing leather at the bottom but the fat wheel is very nice.... with my 2008 TL-S had a wheel like that...

This is a duplicate thread.
TL still has the fat wheel. RDX is NOT a sport sedan. Get over it.

Didn't say the RDX was a sports sedan but I also don't believe that only sports sedans/cars/whatever deserve a nice grippy wheel... If we didn't have air bags, every car of mine would have a momo steering wheel (old school... :-) ).

The 4G TL's has a nice grippy wheel with a great leather cover but the 2008 TL-S does not...it is rather disappointingly thin...better than my old '99 Prelude but not by much IMHO...

Could it be possible to swap the RDX steering wheel with a 4G TL wheel? Love the way those feel..
