RDX gas tank question

My wife drives an '09 RDX. Last week I filled up gas in the RDX and noticed there is no small metal flap (attached from the inside) which covers the gas tank hole until the gas hose nozzle is inserted.
My 10+ year old Subaru has this and I could have sworn the RDX had one before. Am I crazy? Can someone check their RDX for me? Thanks.

No Flap, I have an 08 RDX and 06 TSX and there is no flap on the vehicles.
I was so use to seeing the flap on my other (non Acura) cars, I did not notice it was missing for a few months on my TSX when I purchased it 4 years ago. I thought it broken off and fell in the gas tank. I ask the service manager about the flap and he said there isn't one.

Ok, I was thinking the same thing, that it had broken off and fallen in the tank and was worried about the repercussions. I called a service tech at the dealership as well, but wanted confirmation from other Acura owners for peace of mind.
Thanks again.

I think the most common problem is that people don't tighten it back up after filling up, causing the emissions warning light to come up. (Which goes away after 2-3 days of normal driving) The other benefit I can think of is not having to use two hands (one to unscrew the cap and the other to hold the nozzle) to fill up in the winter...which is a huge plus for me because it gets cold here.

no flap for sure (checked 2009 and 2010 rdx). i actually just use one hand to fill up, unscrew cap, place cap on the side "socket" on the gas tank cover, then fill in with the nozzle (loulinjai, you might wanna try that to free yourself one hand in freezin -20C calgary).

Well, my gas cap has caused me so much grief and worry and issues...countless sleepless nights and a couple divorces-...SO it is about time.
Wait... Not.
Sound like a silly gimmik...
Well... the cold weather excuse makes a some sense if you are cursed enough to live somewhere cold. Bummer for you! Brrrr...

Have to agree with XIS on this one. Capless gas tanks and keyless entry are just gimmicks (i.e. features) that add no real value but help to sell cars. At some point we'll get so lazy that we won't even have to open the door. The car will just smell us, realize our odor, and the door will open.
Turning that key for the 2 seconds to start my car is just a killer. :-)

I do wish that the RDX had keyless entry, and push button, and powered tailgate.

you could make that argument for most automotive features in the past 30-40 years.....I mean, do we really "need" electric windows? or paddle shifters? or leather? or powered doors? or laser guided cruise control? or massage chairs?.....they do add value to some people, maybe not to you, but they are catering to a broad audience and are trying to have something for everyone. All those features have made our lives a bit easier and more comfortable.

Sounds like the 1967 Chevy Chevelle I had way back when…
Just being sarcastic. Couldn’t help it!

Hey, did you hear? The 2012 RDX is streamlined with crank windows, non-powered drum brakes, manual steering with a steering wheel diameter of a school bus, bias ply tires, vinyl bench seats front and rear, lap belt only for convenience, solid metal dash for protection, and requires leaded fuel.

welll since we are at it, maybe Acura should take a stroll thru memory lane and look at old designs that were actually attractive, and make a car or truck that looks somewhat like i should spend money on it like i did in the mid 90's! like, the ACURA LEGEND COUPE, i believe the model was the LS, that was some hotness wow
