Would that be like a mounty hat? or a curling stone? haha I crack myself up!

Have you checked with Curry Acura? Being in NY I would think they would ship to Canada....

www.hondaacuraworld.com is also in NY....

or even better, print out the RDX accessory page from Curry's website and bring it into your dealer to see if they'll match the prices. They'll likely try to make something extra in the conversion rate. But, then again, perhaps you'd save enough in taxes ordering from the US that it makes more sense to go that route?

I read in a prior posting that you get free shipping from Curry Acura, if you type FREE in the discount code field. Since I live in California, will they charge me sales tax?

How about hondaacuraworld.com? Is shipping free & would I pay sales tax?
Anyone know?

Thanks

They are NY based so probably not on the sales tax issue. Unless they have an office in CA... They didn't charge me sales tax in VA.

I try to keep the entire bumper dirt free all the time and use the cargo liner that I have ordered from hondacuraworld. It does a descent job of protecting cargo area, back of the rear seat and the top of the rear bumper from scratching.

I'm sure they have improved the design since then. Back then, there was a buzzing/whining sound every time the mirror adjusted. I assume they are quiet now?

Since it is an available accessory for the RDX, do most people feel that this a good accessory to get?
If you drive a car with it, you'll never go back.

ditto on the cargo liner -- also use it to protect the bumper when I move stuff in and out of the cargo area. Question for other cargo liner owners -- what exactly are those velcro straps used for on the flap of the liner that goes over the bumper? There are two straps on the top right and left corners which I think are for keeping the liner hanging up on the left and right cargo bars when you are not removing things out of the trunk. But what are the velcro straps on the right and left sides? I can't find anything for those to fasten to.

Those straps attach up to the back end of the silver bar. It was in the installation instructions. Of course I never attach mine up there as it just makes the cargo liner get in the way. But I guess if you have something that may move around in transit, and you want to protect the inside of the tailgate, you'd connect it up there.

Thanks Sasair. I saw that in the instructions, but I don't reallly understand why there are four straps (2 sets of two). Do all four strap on the silver bar? The instructions imply that the top two strap on the silver bar, but the ones of the side I'm not so sure about.

Those other two go through a loop on the cargo liner itself.

Cooler?

Anybody get the cooler bag? How does it work -- is it a carry around bag that you stick ice packs into? then just throw it into the center console? Is it pretty functional to use out of the RDX? How is the insulation?

I have one, never REALLY used it, but it is pretty well insulated, well-built, and functions as a good carry around bag. I have too much stuff in the center console though, so I doubt I will actually ever use it in there. It is marketed towards the young parents that have to keep baby formula or kids food and drink cold.

Definitely not marketed to keep your 6-pack of Budweiser cold, but I bet it does it just as well.....

Thanks again sasair. You're a wealth of info! I was thinking about getting it precisely for baby bottles. However, I guess the only advantage over carrying around a standard freezer lunch box is that you have some place to put it rather than on the floor of the rear seats or on the rear seats. I wouldn't think that the actual console adds anything to the insulation.

Yeah I'm sure the console doesn't offer much insulation, except the fact that it keeps it out of direct sunlight. My problem with the cooler bag is just the amount of stuff I keep in the center console already. I wouldn't have any idea where to put all that stuff so if I did use the cooler bag, it would be sitting on the rear seat floor most likely, and in that case, I could probably find a better sized cooler thats better insulated to sit back there...

Have you really looked at the rear bumber applique? I think it is the same stuff as clear bra. Its not too thin IMO. it protects great against my dogs nails when she jumps in and out. they could have made it to come down a little lower though.

I also use the cargo liner which drapes far outside the car and covers the whole bumper. Don't really care for the abrasiveness of that material though.

installed my own hitch

I bought my trailer hitch from www.hidden-hitch.com and only had to pay $90 for a draw-tite hitch. With receiver/ lock/ 2 hitch balls/ wrench, I pushed the total to $150 to get 99 cent shipping. I bought the wiring harness on E-Bay from Ryans Open Road Acura of Wayne, NJ for $90. It was easy to bolt on the hitch (between the rear muffler and bumper). The wiring harness from Acura is a necessity. It took the most time to remove everything from the trunk and do the wiring. Included with the harness are fuses/ control box / tie downs/ foam adhesive strips/ grommets/ mounting hardware/ and detailed instructions. Everything plugs into the factory wiring and tucks in along the edge of the trunk (right side) to the back where it clips to another harness, with grommet attached, that has the wiring for trailer. I didn't have to cut the rear bumper as instructed with the factory hitch. It is barely noticeable with the receiver removed.

Is the hitch rated for Class I or II? I want to carry one of those cargo boxes that uses the hitch opening (not intent to use the hitch to tow anything) but most of them is Class II. Also does the installation of hitch require to remove any part of the rear or drilling the frame?

Thanks in advance.

hitch installation

I think it is a class II hitch - rating is 300lbs tongue weight and 3500lbs trailer towing weight. The RDX is only rated for towing 1500lbs. The installation was easy for the hitch. It can be bolted on from underneath using the 2 existing nuts that are welded to the frame (where the rear cross piece meets the 2 side pieces). Two fine thread metric bolts are provided. The two nuts for the front 2 bolts are welded to a long thin metal piece and can be slid through the larger hole in the frame and the bolts inserted from below. The hitch just fits in the small space between the muffler and bumper and no cutting is required unless you have the rear diffuser.

Nice to have but I don't have any problem with out it. I actually have only flicked it once or twice myself. Now I remember why I didn't like auto dimming mirror at times as you couldn't tell what was coming up on you.

Very hard to spot a police car in the dark with the auto dimming on. Much easier now and that is why I don't flick it to the night time view. I do a lot of driving in the early morning hours with little traffic and little lighting on the road and much more likely for a police cruiser to come up on you quickly before you have time to react.

If annoying bright lights just flip it, much easier and faster than turning the auto dimmer off and on. Just my opinion but I can live with it.

Hey, Thanks a bunch for going through the details.
