Rain-X on RDX

In seattle, typical of northwest climate, it drizzles and rains quite a lot in Fall, winter and Spring. Bought a small bottle of Rain-X from Walmart, applied to all the windows, and it really does work. Watching the rain hitting the windshield and forming small droplets, and streaming up the windshield, is really cool. The windshield wipers also actually works more efficiently too.

Been using it for years. Put it on all windows. There is also product call fog-x that helps with the inside of the windows and condensation.
There is a second brand of the Rain-X type stuff in a purple bottle that sprays, and it work the same, and is a bit easier to buff out.

I've been using it since the 80s. Amazing stuff. I rarely use my wipers, and when I do, they are quieter - and they last longer too. The best thing about RainX is being able to BLOW by people on the highway during a heavy downpour when people are pulling over - and you can do it without even using your wipers. The faster you go, the better it works. At night, sometimes you don't even notice that it's raining. It also helps make cleaning bugs and ice off MUCH easier.

I don't like it that much, especially when it's raining hard. When the wipers are going it provides a cloudy film on the windshield which makes it hard for me to see out of. I mean the rain definitely repels off the window but when wipers are going it's the cloudy film as an effect from my wipers that I don't like. And yes, I've done it with new wipers as well.

That is true - that's because the surface is so slick that the blades pulverize the water into really small droplets that look like a film (my experience). I can see why some people don't like it. It's one of the reasons I don't use my wipers with RainX. It's not usually a problem because as long as I keep my RainX application current, I don't need my wipers at all.

Actually, if you apply it properly, i.e. let it dry to a haze and buff it completely clear, you should not have a "clouding" over effect. I have applied it several times now, and it has been great.

How's new england doing? Left that place a few months ago to come out to Seattle, honestly, don't miss it at all... hot humid summer, brutal cold summers... and century old roads and houses... like no other place on earth, you either hate it or just born to love it... JMHO

As I said, I've been using it for years, and I follow the directions carefully (dry to haze, buff it off with a few drops of water and a dry cloth) - and I always get the clouding when I use my wipers. It dissipates quickly, but I still get it. I can see why phoward doesn't like it...but again, I avoid it by not using my wipers.

Not sure what the difference is, but today it rained here in seattle, and I was driving my other car, Honda Fit, with rain-X applied the night before. When the wiper was used, no clouding at all, but the wipe action is so much more efficient and the vision is much clearer as well.

That's been my experience with it also.

Yeah I've applied it properly every time. I've tried different types of wipers but it doesn't make a difference. I always see that cloudy film which just bothers me. I just prefer great wipers to do the job of clearing rain/water from my windshield.

I have not driven without Rain-X on all my windows for probably at least 10 years. I swear by it!

Just bought Rain-X, and it works great, like others have said.

How often do you guys re-apply it?

The only time I use my wipers is when I'm drive too slow for the rain drops to bead off by itself; otherwise, Rain-X takes care of it.
