Quiet tires
Hi all, lurker here.
It's time to replace the stock Michelins on my wife's '07 RDX. Her biggest criteria is quietness. The stock tires fit the bill, but I'm wondering if anyone here can suggest a tire with better performance and no increase in sound. I'd also prefer an asymmetrical thread to make my life easier when rotating the tires.
Here's what I'm looking at:
Thanks!

Here's what I'm looking at:
- Michelin MXM4 H rated (cheaper than OE W rated)
- Continental ExtremeContact DWS (I run their predecessor ContiExtremeContacts on my '08 STI)
- Yokohama Parada Spec X
- Goodyear Eagle Response Edge
Thanks!

I'm hoping the new version doesn't have the balance issues.

I just installed Continental ExtremeContact DWS. They are indeed quieter than the factory-installed Michelins. The Michelins I had lasted 51,300 miles driving around New Jersey.
Also, there was fresh snow this morning (about an inch) and the DWS moved nicely on the snow.

I have been running the Yokohama Parada Spec X for 4 months. I would highly recommend them. They are quieter than the stock Michelin's with better performance. No problems in the snow.

Have you had any balancing issues with the Contis? I had the ContiExtremeContacts on my old '03 WRX and it took it back a few times to have them rebalanced. Seems they like to shimmy at higher speeds depending on temps. I've noticed the same thing on the set I have on my STI (and took it in 3 times to have them balanced). Other than that, I like them because they are cheap and absolutely excel when they are in their environment (bitter cold and rain). Not bad on the snow either.
I'm hoping the new version doesn't have the balance issues.

I have Yokohams V4S installed and they are quite quiet, but definitely comparable to the stock michelins in all areas. For dry/wet handling, feels grippier than the oems. For light snow, no real issues.

Thanks everyone. I found a local dealer that matched tire racks price for the Yokohama Avid V4S. Just waiting to hear when he gets them in.
As for the unbalanced Conti's, after giving the installer a few chances to get them right, I had the dealer rebalance them. Better, but still not perfect. I think it's the tires. Had the same issue with another pair on another vehicle, different installer.
