Question about technology pack and LCD display
Hey yall,
Im graduating from college soon, and am looking to buy a RDX in mid July.
I was wondering if paying the extra 2500 was worth it (in your opinion) for the ELS sound system/navigation or if the money would be better invested in going to cartoys and upgrading the speakers there? I wouldnt say Im an audiophile but I would like to have a nice car stereo system.
Also what does the ipod playlist look like on the stock LCD screen? Can you scroll through artists and then scroll through songs, or does it only display what is currently playing?
thanks

What year?
In my opinion is not worth it for 2008 and 2009 since the only difference is navigation and premium stereo...I don't think that it justifies the difference in price.
I don't know what the new one does with the Ipod, but I know that the previous years don't show anything. I have the factory Ipod adapter, which they stopped offering the very next year, and it's total crap. Right now it serves as an Ipod charger and I play though the auxiliary input.

In most cases going for $2500 for any tech package when new is over priced. But on a resale, it really doesn't add anything near that price.
So IMO, when buying new pass it up, but buying used, I would look for it.

Im buying the car new, either a 2011 or 2012 depending on if the 2012 will be a FMC or not (apparently the CR-V getting overhauled for 2012).
I guess the opinions so far are in line with what I was thinking. I have an iphone 4 which would do the exact same as the navi system.

Not to mention the iPhone nav provides crappy directions, has a horrible lag, won't work if your battery is low, etc., etc.
As evidenced by the RDX I bought, I think the tech package is well worth the price.

For $2500 you get a much better stereo system, a nav system and a proper screen for your back-up camera, as opposed to that one in the mirror. IMHO, and I have the tech package in my TL and TSX, the stereo alone is worth the extra cost. Also the dash is way nicer, and it has the nice display at the top of the dash at eye level. BTW, My wife will be getting this RDX soon.
BTW, you cannot compare the integrated systems with the portable unit. They are like comparing a hamburger to a New York Steak.

I have Tom Tom, Navigon, Garmin, GPS Xdrive, Magellan. Tom Tom and Navigon work better than the rest but they are not as good as OEM. Regardless which app you use, it doesn't work if you don't have cell tower signal. I never had a failure with OEM in terms of signal before. It does sometimes lead you to creepy places off the map.

Does the car use XM navigation for anything or is all the navigation data stored on the HD? I dont listen to the radio much but I wonder if the acura link stuff is worth the subscription or if its a gimmick.
I got the base at first('08) and had it for a week. We were thinking of just using our own tomtom we already had. A week later we were back at the dealer trading it for the tech package....
we hated the screen just being there..., its worth it
you will always wonder if you dont
