question about the GPS-linked climate control in Tech Package

For those of you with a Technology Package, can you comment on the GPS-linked aspect of the automatic climate control? First, do you really notice it doing anything at all? If so, is it a benefit, or an annoyance (changing fan speed more rapidly than you'd like, so you have to override it with manual control)? Is there a way to deactivate this feature if so desired?

Thanks,
Phil

I haven't really noticed it doing anything strange like some others have commented. I do question the need to have a feature like this. I have heard it helps the vehicle determine where the sun would be located in relation to the vehicle. Not sure how useful that information is. I would think the sensor would be sufficient. Plus there is no way for the GPS to know what your surroundings are like. It could be cloudy and rainy and the GPS wouldn't know it. I would hope the sensor on the dash would override whatever the GPS is telling it.

Also it is strange that the manual doesn't mention this "feature" at all. At least I have not seen it in there...

I mentioned in another thread that I seemed to have to adjust the temperature pretty often to stay comfortable. I think that this was, at least, partially user error. I think what happened was that I somehow got the system out of auto mode -- the green light on the "Auto" button wasn't lit. Now, with my previous cars that wouldn't have been a problem. Even if I changed the fan speed or the air outlets, the temperature would stay pretty steady, whereas in the RDX that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've always thought that the GPS-linked system was overly complex, unnecessary, and would be more error-prone. My previous non-GPS-linked systems worked perfectly well -- I almost never had to change the temperature setting.

I've caught the one in our TL working now and then. Kept me comfortable, where I normally would turn up my fan

i have the climate control in automatic, and it works pretty transparent. it does a good job at maintaining the cabin temp.

I have not noticed any rapid fan speed changes. I keep the climate control on auto and just modify the temp by a few degrees. It seems to work seemlessly in my RDX Tech.
