New tires again
New tires again
Just wanted to comment on my third try on tires for this vehicle. Stock were toast in less than 18k. Second set was Goodyear Assurance Comfort Tread. 80k tread warranty. 18k and again down to 2/32" all around. Hopefully the third time is the charm. I turned in the Goodyears under warranty and paid about $300 for a new set of Yokohama Avid V4s (in the stock size) including mounting, balancing, lifetime rotation, road hazard, and a 4 wheel alignment. For some reason I had never thought to have this thing aligned. It was "way out". Thinking back to it, it was probably out of alignment from the factory. The vehicle has always driven straight down the road and the wear pattern was even so I guess I never considered the alignment was a problem. It rides great now. Nice and quiet. Super nice looking tire on the stock rim. Rim guard wraps right up to lip perfectly. No more squealing when accelerating or around corners. Treadwear on these is 550. I just hope they hold up a little longer than the last two sets.
Chances are that had quite a bit to do with your fast tire wear although I can say my stock tires didn't last too long either. I had to have them replaced at 23K. Hopefully these new tires will last you longer.
30,000 miles on my 07 RDX, and still with the original set of OEM tires, and still lots of tread.
The vast majority of my driving is highway/freeway. I rotate and rebalance all the tires religously at every 5,000 miles, but never had an indication of any need to check the alignment.

The RDX can eat some tires for being a mostly fwd bias awd vehicle. I usually get around 30,000-35,000 miles on a 50,000 mile rated tire. I use Conti DWS for my last few sets. I usually go a little longer if it is spring/summer and only the "S" for snow has worn off.
Yupper! I have no idea what the rating of my tires is. Is Conti good (and inexpensive haha) for the high heat? I'll do some research!
I need new tires.
The ones the dealer put in when I bought it Used/Certified (some sort of Michelins), have lasted only 25,000 miles but 5 years in the hot, west coast of Florida.
I plan to keep the car another maybe 2 years or so, so it's time to replace. And least expensive but safe.
Any recommendations for what to buy and where? I've read about Yokohama YK520 but need other input.
Thanks!

I really don't know?
I have the same Conti dws tires for my MDX (20" size) and TSX (OEM size). I've got the full 50,000 miles on my TSX (now on my 2nd set of Conti DWS). I have 40,000 miles on the Conti on my MDX and they still between 5/32nd to 6/32nd (still have the "S" showing on the tread). I was expecting to have the same sh-awd tire eating problems like on the RDX with the MDX; but, the tires are lasting even longer on the MDX compared to my RDX or TSX? I think I drive all three vehicle close to the same way, conditions, and mileage.
Other than going to a 80,000 miles treadwear tires and maybe get 50,000 from them; I really can't figure out why the RDX loves to eat tires.

I spent way too much time looking for a reasonably priced nice tire -- narrowed my list to Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring, Nitto NT850, Toyo Versado, and had the Bridgestones on the list in case there was a sale. Sure enough, there was a Bridgestone dealer promotion right around tax time that made them an easy choice.
As far as where to buy, I've had good luck with Tirerack in the past. This was the first time in a long time that I've gone straight to a retail outlet for the purchase.
