This has been rumored for a while. The vehicle sounds like it will be bigger and cheaper than the Infiniti EX, but more luxurious/refined than the 6-cylinder RAV4 (which has a pretty basic interior).

Who would want to buy a lexus badged rav4 for mid 30s max 38k (08 rdx is 36k with tech) when you can get a toyota rav4 fully loaded for 32k??? I don't see how people will justify being a rebadged lexus rav4 for more than a toyota rav4.

Doesn't the RX already compete directly with the RDX? Is this car even going to be sold in America? I just don't see a point selling a car that they basically already sell a better version of.

RX is smaller than an MDX, but they compete more directly.

Remember that the RX is due for FMC soon. My prediction, the RX will grow on size (as the Highlander did) and it will offer 7 pass seating. New entry level model to compete with RDX, X3, EX, LR2 and all the others that are going to come in to the market. Mercedes, Audi...
BTW I also belive that the Infiniti FX will grow on size...

The one, i think, that will shake things up towards the higher end of the market is the due out soon Benz GLK, will prob have the C class's v6's, good handling, supposedly firmly based on the 08 C class platform. im sure, however, price will be a factor for a nicely packaged version. it has some nice looks, but very boxy-ish, see the pic below

Burning Brakes
Looks smaller than a RAV4 (and about the same size as an RDX). But who know since it is just artist renderings.
Subaru Forester is getting bigger, too, for 2009, and they seem to be continuing their push upmarket.

What they couldn't come up with their own wheel design so they steal it right out of BMW's X3???
Now that's comedy!
