New Happy RDX Owner

Hi everyone,

Been trolling around here for some time, but decided to register today.
Wanted to announce that my wife and I are the proud new owners of a 2010 RDX.

It's the base SH-AWD model and the colour is Blue Royal Pearl.

We got it in July by buying out someone's lease. The guy was halfway into a 48 months lease but had driven 29000 km of the alotted 48000km. Still under warranty for another 2 year, which is great - but I won't be getting the extended.

I had been shopping for an RDX for some time and the price for this one came out to fit just within our budget. The mileage is just right, as I feel I'm getting the car while it's still "young". Also, getting the 2010 makes me feel like I got the "newer" model vs the 07-09 version. I like the look of the plenum grille and the fog lights. I had test drove the 2012 and the 2013 at the dealer, and new I wanted the first gen RDX. The 2013 feels like a floaty suv for middle-agers. That's not right for me right now. But the 2010 first gen is perfect.

We were previously driving a 15 year old CR-V, which still runs great after 150000+ miles, but it was getting a little on the unsafe side for winter and it's so underpowered, I get scared trying to merge onto the highway.

Having had the car for a month, I'm loving it so far. Cornering is a blast, and I feel like there's enough power there for me. We are also getting used to the firmer ride - especially on the terrible roads we have here - and I'm learning to tone down the aggressive driving when riding with my wife. But handling was a priority for me and the RDX has delivered so far. I also know winter won't be a problem.

So far, I've purchased a slightly used set of 17" with Yokohama Geolandars for the winter. Yeah they are minus-sized, but I'm going to be doing real snow driving cause we get real winters here.

Next up is new tires to replace the stock MXM4 for next summer. They are toooo loud, which is my only beef with an otherwise very happy purchase.

Pics to come soon.

Welcome to the family!!

Power is not an issue with the RDX. You might even want to check into Hondata for a few more HP and improved mpgs. The OEM tires about drove me insane with the noise towards the end of the tire life. The OEM tire did alright in light dry snow; but, they were not that great with wet/slushy/icy roads in winter.
