Nerf bars vs. running boards

Just got a red RDX. Have roof rack, front spoiler, 19" wheels, & rear diffuser.

Like aggressive look running boards add, but don't like the black + aluminum color of factory accessory -- prefer all black.

Any thoughts on how it might look w/ nerf bars rather than running boards? For those not familiar w/ nerf bars, they serve same function as running boards but resemble side exhaust pipes.

Thanks,
Jon

I'm not a fan of either look, really, but imho on some vehicles nerf bars look okay. I'm thinking Xterra, H3, etc. here. Then again, if you hit your shin on a nerf board, maybe it wouldn't cause as much pain as a running board would.

That's why I don't care for running boards. That, and I think unless they're on a big rig or something, they're just vestigial.

With a vast majority of accessories, my feeling is that if the designer thought they were crucial to the aesthetics of the car, they would be standard. Otherwise, they usually just make the car look gaudy and bloated.

I concur w/ majority

Service mgr. delivered my RDX this evening w/ all accessories installed, i.e. roof rack; front spoiler; rear diffuser; splash guards; body side molding; wheel locks; auto dimming mirror; all-season mats; cargo tray.

It doesn't need nerf bars or running boards. It looks just fine w/o!

Got the 19" sparkle rims w/ Yokohama ADVAN S.4 tires too, but asked service dept. not to put them on now. I'm keeping the 18"OEM wheels on 'till spring.
