My best mileage run yet

San Francisco to Mission Viejo, in So Cal.

Hyper-miled the whole way last night since the wife (a.k.a. the speed governor) was in the car.

Wow! Pretty awesome there. I'm pushing 18-19 mixed with 22-ish hwy. But 25?! Were your tires over inflated?

^^Nice. I have been able to do that on the flat stretches of Interstate 5 running at no more the 70 mph.

My trip above from San Francisco included the Tejon Pass on the Grapevine, a 4000 foot climb.

That is impressive!!

I've only see that mileage if I keep my RDX around 45-50 mph with little to no boost. I think I've never seen above 22 mpg on the hwy on my RDX (speed limit 75 mph and I usually drive 80 mph).

I wish the 07-12 RDX had a 6AT or better yet the newer 8/9AT. I think that might have increased the sales, fuel economy, and performance. The 5AT and gear spacing isn't enough for a lot sporty fun+fuel economy sometimes.

Live in Florida, and one one hour drives over to visit the parents, I can get 28 mpg if I take the back roads and go about 60 mph. If I take the highway and go 75, it drops down to 24/25. Can't imagine what it would be averaging 80 on a trip. Six speed or more would have been nice.

When I drove from ABQ to Houston for a track meet a few summers ago. Some parts of TX, the posted speed limit was 80 mph and I had the cruise control set between 85-90 mph depending on traffic.

I've done 25+ a few times on highway runs, including 26.x from Phoenix to Los Angeles while cruising at 75 most of the way. But, I have two fewer drive wheels. To see you guys doing that with the SH-awd is impressive.

It takes a lot of concentration to get that kind of mileage. It is not fun. I am a hypermiler, my last car, Honda Insight, I considered it a failure if I didn't get at least 72 mpg. When I was just out in the Rockies I was getting 18 mpg and having fun.
Wrench, if we drag raced, I would be the one who looked like he was dragging the grappling hook.

It has been my experience in the past few vehicles that no matter how hard I try and hypermile, the difference between hating driving and loving it is a couple mpgs. When I drive the rdx like a race car, I eat gas like it is nothing. But when I drive half sensibly, I do alright, but hypermiling I didn't see that good. I guess with 4000 pounds and a 2.3l engine...it won't work too well.

I honestly can't hyper-mile in the RDX, just too much work and boring!

Finished at 23.7 mpg over 1500 miles and I got on it quite a few times. A few days a around town driving in Laguna Beach, a couple days at Joshua Tree National Park, twice up to higher than 5000 ft. And twice over the Grapevine (4000 ft). Took 101 back to the Bay Area, so my mileage came down a bit since it is hilly. Flying along at 70-80 mph most of the time - what a great road trip car.

Turbo boost is so addictive, the noise, the feel, the blow off noise, the vtec yo! Lol. I always fill up and then swear to try and drive like a sensible human....then the needle falls below full and I no longer see a point and start mashing the gas. Even with mashing, I can get like 500kms per tank. I am over joyed by it! My last 4 suvs were 14mpg vehicles, the rdx is my first fed based vehicle, first non german, and smallest engine I have ever had. Second closest was a 3.2 v6 and then 3.6 v6 and then 4.2 v8 and lastly a 4.4 v8. I love a car where I can mash the throttle and get respectable mileage and have fun driving it!
