Maint Minder Sub-services

New to Honda/Acura products. Sure enjoying the RDX Tech.

Does anyone know when the Maint Minder sub-services (the 1,2 ,3 etc.) come on?

Are they always associated with a Main A or B service or will they come on independantly? Which would lead to the second question: do the sub-services reset when you reset the Oil Life Monitor for the A or B service?

I ask because services like trans flush are typically at fixed mileages like 30k, and the OLM varies with driving conditions.

Thanks (ps. very impressed with Acura so far... came out of a VW Touareg.

You must be a Boeing 737 pilot. I have a brother who used to fly those babies (he's a 747 pilot now), and I used to work on them as an engineer.

Anyway, the sub-services should come on with the A or B checks. My A1 came on at 5300 miles. I have read others on this board see their A1 come on anywhere from about 3500 miles to 6500 miles. I have also read another RDXer here stating the A16 came on for their second maintenance check, at about 13000 miles maybe?

Not sure about the reset.

If you do a general reset, it will reset anything that is displayed in the MID. in other words, if A16 is displayed, and you do a reset, it will reset the oil life indicator as well as the rear differential fluid, and leave all other counters counting where they were.

I haven't seen a published list of what mileage certain counters go off at. I know some are mileage based, where the oil is not mileage based. I think they do not publish a list because the maintenance minder can vary the mileage for convenience purposes. For example, the first standard rear differential fluid change would be at 15000 miles, but if you are at 13200 and your oil life indicates an oil change it will go ahead and throw the #6 sub service rather than have you bring your car back in at 15000. Likewise, if your oil indicator lasts till 16000 it will hold off showing the #6 till then.

My guess is that the standard mileages are double what the owner's manual indicates for harsh conditions, but that could wrong.

Hope that helps answer your question.

Very helpful, thank you both.

(p.s. From a 747 everything else looks like a toy....)

Think its also worth mentioning that an Acura dealer can reset the counters on specific maintenance minder items. For example, if they needed to replace your ATF before the maintenance minder alerted you, they can hook up the HDS and reset the ATF counter. Or if you get an A16 code, and you replace your oil at home and reset the oil life counter, but 2000 miles later take it to the dealer to replace the rear diff fluid, then they can reset the rear diff fluid counter without messing with your oil life counter.

Thanks again for the information, as I do intend to do my own oil changes.
