Looking at buying a 2008 RDX.
I’ve been looking into the first generation RDXs. The one I’m currently looking at is a 2008 with 177k miles. Private seller says he’ll take $4k at the lowest. I haven’t seen it in person, but it looks clean in the pictures. It’s got the gps option, heated seats, and a few other things I can’t remember at the moment. Does $4k sound reasonable and is there anything I should look for as a concern? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
i mean; $4k is pocket change. if someone were financing it, it would be like less than $80 a month. Pocket change.
so, then....one would have to inspect the vehicle to see if anything is wrong with it...
if you dont know how to inspect the vehicle for problems...you'll need to take it to a mechanic that can inspect it, as apart of a "pre-purchase-Inspection".
we can sit here and list the many many problems that an RDX of that era may have...but I think it's pointless...as a car is like an individual.. depending on how well the previous owner took care of it, will dictate what the issues are..
so, one really needs to drive it and inspect it to make sure it is trouble free.
I think one of the biggest issues would be a blown turbo..but you would know right away if it's not going into boost and driving like crap.
you just gotta drive it to make sure it feels good. ya know...and possibly get a pre-purchase-inspection, where the mechanic WILL tell you EVERYTHING that is wrong with it

Well-maintained, 177k is not really bad. I have more than that on my 2010 and I'll drive it across the country tomorrow without worry. You'll want maintenance records on anything with that many miles, regardless of price (unless free....), and it might help to pay a mechanic to give it a look. They can help identify any current or soon-to-be issues, like maybe you have a power steering leak or a weeping water pump. It would at least give you an idea of what money you may have to spend to keep it in good shape.
I agree to take to a mechanic to have it checked out unless you are one of course. I also agree to check the service records to see if the vehicle was well taken care of by the previous owner/owners.
