Kayaks and the RDX

My wife and I want to get kayaks and I'm wondering if anyone else on these forums has kayaks and what type of roof rack you use that would fit 2 kayaks.

Thanks,
Paul

We've got two kayaks....use the Acura stock roof rack with Yakima Mighty mount model # 23H adaptors and Kayak Stacker posts, which means the boats are on their sides, so we have to watch out for low clearances. Works great, though the gas mileage isn't too good, and on windy days it's tough to keep on track, but why would you go out when it's windy anyway?

lumpulus - thanks for the advice. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Yeah if it's windy we won't be kayaking so no need to worry about that. I'll need to definitely stack two on the roof so sideways is the only real option. Thanks i'll take a look into these.

I have the factory roof rack rails w/o the crossbars installed. And bolt on yakima lowriders w/58" crossbars. I can them strap on 2-15' ocean kayaks on top w/no problem.

BTW...thanks everyone for your help. I got two kayaks along with the Thule j-racks and everything worked out great. I love how the car looks when I have the kayaks on top. Pic below.

I bought an 8' Kayak and can fit it inside. The wife has to sit in the backseat though...

I probbaly should have bought the folding Bic Kayak, but it was 3 times the price.

Hi all,

We're picking up our new-to-us '07 RDX today and are very excited. It doesn't have the factory roof-rack, and am considering buying one. Has anyone here installed one? Is it terribly difficult?

Thanks!

I have an 07 RDX and have the Yakima Big Stack. I can also fit one bike up there with two 50 lb kayaks.
