Hey all,

Its the time of the year when we are getting ready to go snowboarding with our RDX . I am thinking of buying a snowboard rack but is indecisive on which ones to get. What are your suggestions and decisions??

The OEM Acura Ski Rack (Can this be use with Snowboard instead of Ski?).

The OEM Acura Snowboard Rack.

Thule Universal 91725.

Thule Universal 91726.

-------or--------

Any alternatives I should consider??

I am leaning toward Thule since it is more convenient and much easier to load the snowboards. Has anyone have any experience with the universal thule racks on their RDX???

Any inputs are really appreciated!

Pictures are even better!!! Thanks for helping out.

James

I'm an avid snowboarder and last year I got the Yakima Fat Cat 6 for my RDX and love it. It has a pretty slim profile for a rack and it is super easy to load/unload boards. The Thule racks are good, but check out the Yakima Fat Cat racks...my

Does Thule or Yakima make a "snap on" type mount for those who don't have the OEM rack/rails?

I think in order to install the Thule or Yakima, you need the roof rack. They are direct bolt on with the hex nuts. I am not sure if the universal rack fits perfectly into the OEM roof rack though. MMMmm...

Personally, I really like the look of the OEM rack. Of course, everyone has a different taste . I am leaning toward the 91726 Thule rack for my RDX. Thule seem to offer a convenient way to load up the racks; most importantly, it looks good! Also, I want to get a rack that is easily removed when I don't need it. OEM snowboard/ski racks look very complicated to install and remove. Just my 2cents.

n8b - Did you need to buy the Universal Might Mounts to get your Fat Cat 6 on your OEM rack? I have a Yakima Q tower set up with an older Yakima rack and just ordered the OEM crossbar setup.

Just curious if I need to order anything else for the OEM crossbars.

The RDX looks awesome with the FatCat6. I have it on my RDX and no other mounts are necessary. They clamp right on the factory crossbars.

I don't snowboard or ski, but I just put a Yakima rack on my car. Ordered it from RackAttack.com. They shipped quick and had the best prices around.

I'll try to post pictures, but I definitely recommend picking up a fairing as the noise from the wind is horrid.

Did you already have the factory rail rack before you install the Yakima rack?

Pictures please.

I installed a Yakima roof rack to my RDX back in December, just for the purpose of hauling stuff on the roof. It's not bold in, but is extremely sturdy. I recommend checking out one of their systems.

RackAttack.com had the best prices and was pretty quick on the shipping.

No - as you can see on my thread I was looking for inexpensive roof rack without factory rail options.
(Thank for the reply on that posting)

For this one; I was simply following up with LC2ner since he had advise he install a Yakima rack on his RDX. I wanted to see if he already had the factory oem roof rack or was the Yakima rack plug & play - which hooks up to the side of the cuv. (Like the door section if there was something like that available)

But you already knew that right.
