installing my new wheels

I have the 19" option wheels for my RDX -- When I put them on the car - do I need to reset anything so the car recognizes new TPMS or will it just automatically recognize the new sensors and work as normal?

You don't need to do anything.

As long as they (the sensors) are used back on the same hub, otherwise your Acura delaer will need to reset the distance/placement from each TPMS unit via a special tool.

Are you saying that since I rotated the wheels, the locations in the display do not match wheel locations?

This is a myth that keeps building steam in online forums...no, you don't need to have the TPMS reset. The receiver looks for a sensor, if a factory-spec sensor is there with a proper reading, there is no problem.

I've rotated my factory wheels and just had new TPMS installed in my new 19" for our MDX and neither time was there a need for resetting.

When I bought my Si wheels for my TSX the guy at the local tire shop said he couldn't install them because my sensors needed to be "recalibrated"...that was the first I had heard of that...so I called my local Acura dealer and they had no idea what he was talking about. Took them to another tire shop and they installed them as normal. No problems.

So it seems as long as the new or moved sensor is in proximity it will read it. Thanks for the 411 guys.

Well then, they've advanced the TPMS systems from earlier versions...

TPMS system recalibrates itself every time you start your vehicle and start driving. The control unit tells the initiators to send a signal to the sensors in the wheels. the sensors wake up and transmit their ID and begin transmitting their pressure info once every minute. There are four initiators, one in each wheel well.
