I guess the cladding did its job???
Hit something in the road the other day, and this was the result.
You can notice a small dent/crease in the lower right hand corner of the door where the cladding used to be.
Not sure if ripping off like this is what it's there for, kinda to protect the rest of the car? But I was shocked as to how cleanly it just came off.
And yes, I know my car is dirty and needs detailed badly... I'll probably repaint the whole thing now because I'm sure the replacement part will stick out like a sore thumb...

I should probably post a pic, but the replacement part matches wonderfully. Can't really tell it's been replaced! (except for the original paint has 'dimples' and needs clay bar badly, but not something you'd ever notice unless you were actually looking for it... seriously, matches 100% otherwise!)

Funny, I have a similar issue right now. TYVM old fuck from Hawaii on the freeway (next time look in your god damned blind spot before you change lanes)!
