High mileage or a lemon?

My RDX is at 207k, and every few weeks I can almost guarantee something is going to fail. This time my sh-awd, vsa, and abs lights came on while I was driving up a mountain, in traffic, during a blizzard. So I checked the forum for some answers. Now I might have looked in the right place but what I can tell you is that it’s not the main fuse or fuse 12 related with the horn and brake lights not working. My battery is a half a year old and my alternator is a year in a half old. I changed the vtec oil pressure solenoid in November. And I just went to autozone and nothing came up on their code reader and they couldn’t clear it. (I know it’s not a real scan tool). It might be the egr, I just want someone to confirm my suspicions. Please and thank you for any help.

Different codes may trigger the same lights. You definitely need to get codes pulled to help with the diagnosis. Anything someone says before that is just guessing.

lol that's not the definition of a lemon...

cars are machines, machines have moving parts. moving parts fail. which does not make a lemon.
you're going to have to troubleshoot to figure out the issue.

Have you checked all wheel and ABS sensors in the wheel well?
Do you have ALL Wheel Drive? or did it disable the SHAWD all together?
if you suspect the EGR (highly doubtful) check it! Remove it to see if it has carbon debris making the valve stuck open.

I agree, if the fuses are good you need to check your sensors.

Also make sure you go to a good car wash, regularly get underbody washes!

Correction in case some one decides to use this info, wrong cable, HDS compatible should have been the cable.

At 200k+ miles, unless the car was maintained well, some things will likely fail. Did you buy your car used? Do you know if it was maintained well from day one?

can you rent a scantool from autozone?

I bought one from ebay that reads body control module, srs, abs, and engine codes. it was 170$ cad $, but with 3 older vehicles it paid for itself after its first use. also let me clear my airbag deployed srs light in my TL after swapping in a different SRS unit. it is an AUTEL MD805.

my guess would be an abs sensor has either a cut wire or went bad. that would cause all those lights to come on as both the vehicle stability system and the shawd drive, require input from all 4 sensors on the ABS system.

a slightly cheaper version of it is the Autel AL619 but it doesn't read as many things like body control module codes. this one was 140$ if i remember...

here is a photo of me last week scanning my 02 TL flashing D light.

My RDX became a "lemon" just before the 200K mark!

After some very expensive and much needed TLC, I've barely had to do anything to it in almost a year, except take care of a few oil leaks!

I'm currently at 250K and going strong!

I've been dealing with a similar problem on my 08 base model and it turned out to be a failed brake pedal position switch. The switch cost $15 and took all of two minutes to replace, it's at least something to consider replacing if you don't know where the codes are coming from.
