Help with Hitch Questions?
hello everyone! I've never done this before, so forgive me if I lack protocol. I am simply in need of advice on how to go about installing a hitch to my 2007 acura rdx. i need to move for the 5th time this year, and i need to try and save money by moving my things myself. i would like to try and buy all used pieces, but i'm not even sure where to start. what is the entire inventory of things i need to have a hitch that will pull a small trailer. i basically have the contents of a studio apt, so it's not much at all. thanks so much for any help at all!

Good luck trying to find a used tow package for an RDX. I would buy the factory tow package kit and then save money by installing it yourself if you're handy. Otherwise, you can go to U-Haul and have them install a hitch kit for you.
I bought the Honda kit and and installed it for our Honda Pilot and it wasn't too hard- especially if the RDX already has the 4-pin connector pre-wired like our Pilot did- you add a fuse under the hood and you're pretty set.

One on the right for me
Look at the instructions that come with the hitch. Some are easy as shit to install and others require templates/drilling.
Wiring is fairly simple regardless of the type of plug

Go to hiddenhitch.com or etrailer.com and buy the tow package that fits the RDX. It's really easy to install and comes with all the parts. And it's half the cost of the factory install. I love mine and use it all the time with my Thule Bike rack.

I'm looking to do the same thing on my 08 pilot. Do you think the coolers are a DIY project too? I'm towing a 1000 lbs of boat and trailer. Do you think I need the coolers?
Thanks,

these guys are very close to my house, so I ordered mine from them: no crappy class I hitch, I got a nice class III hitch that I mounted myself without using jackstands as well as the wiring harness that I cut into the wiring in the spare tire compartment. I use my hitch 3 or 4 times a year towing my 3 rail motorcycle trailer, and it was a piece of cake to install w/ the instructions on the website.

Go to www.etrailer.com. They provide very clear selection, instructions, and in most cases a video of the installation. My 2011 took about 20 minutes for the hitch and wiring. Good luck.
