Is this a good deal?

So I'm shopping around for an '08 RDX Tech with roof rack and tow package. I've been working with one dealership who's given me the following quote of $35,950. I went back to him to see if he would lower closer to invoice and below is his response:

"The price I quoted you was with accessories. Tow package with cross bars and rails. Dealer invoice is $34429(includes destination). I discounted the accessories to $1521. If you are pricing accessories online remember they do not include labor. I'm being aggressive as I can be. It's the end of the month and just looking to do as many deals as I can."

Based on all of your experience is this a good deal? Could I get it a little lower? On average what would total labor be? I'm still waiting to hear what other area dealers will come back with.

Thanks for all your help!

We picked up our 08 tech at invoice last week with a trade-in. We got the high-end of the black book on the trade-in so it was a good deal on both ends. As for accessories, the dealer's cost is 40% below the listed price. That was the calculated price for the accessories we added to the car. Labour included.

Mind you this is Canadian pricing but the numbers came out pretty close to what it would have been had we gone south.

I guess I was wondering if I could get it down to $35,000. Because with tax and everything it'll get up there. We have 5% sales tax. I might go back with $600 less and see what happens.

$1500 is a lot of accessories. Do you really want that stuff? Dealers often use accessories to pad their profits, so don't buy it unless you really want it.

Thanks for the input johnny99. Yeah I'll really be using the stuff. The tow hitch is for the bike hitch I have. I prefer that over putting the bikes on the roof. And the roof rack is for add'l luggage on a bunch of trips my friends and I do a couple times a year...plus skis and so forth.

I see what you mean though. I might just get the trailer hitch first and see if I need the roof rack later.

You can get a good deal on the hitch and other accessories on Ebay. Are you a DIYer?

I'm a DIYer but not really with cars. Plus I live in the city so I don't exactly have a driveway that I can do this in. I'm paying for convenience of labor more than anything.
