Getting an 07 RDX Friday

Hey all

My name is Aleic and I wanted to say hi.

As an owner of many cars, this is my first Acura and I am very excited.

I have a 07 350Z convertible but needed some more room. So my second car is a 2007 RDX Technology Carbon Gray Bronze with Taupe interior. It has 15k on it and the purchase price was $24,000.

I think I did really good on the price as most were in the 26k range.

That said, I was curious if there is anything people want to share, quirks, mods, or just general advice they wanted to share.

Of course, I know I am going to have a blast.

Cheers

Aleic

Congrats on your new purchase. I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Do a search and you'll find alot of good info on the RDX here.

Welcome to Acurazine!

Congrats on the new car. There is a wealth of knowledge on these forums. So as suggested by CSpaR (that's a hard one to type) just do a search on a specific topic and you'll find a lot of info. It's better than just asking people to pipe in here and there.

not that many mods here....as a matter of fact, aside from wheels, CAI, Hondata (if that's what's called) there is nothing....
As for problems, look at the service bulletins, I really think that this is a pretty solid car and that there are not that many complaints or major issues (hence the inactivity of the board).
Hope that you enjoy the car...put the pictures up when you get a chance..

well talk about a turn of events

My wife and I went to pick up the 2007 RDX we found through the internet at an acura dealer. It was just what she wanted and even though the dealer was 140 miles from our house, it was worth the drive to make sure she was happy.

Well sadly that happiness turned to anger and frustration upon arrival. The RDX was not quite in the pristine and flawless condition we thought it was. From scratches, to torn leather and even a little rust, we were quite shocked to see the condition after being told this CPO was just about perfect. And to boot, they didnt even detail the car and just ran it through a quick wash. Not at all the service I expected for my first Acura purchase.

So we went back and forth with the GM and the sales guy and they had a flurry of people out looking at it. They were going to offer to repair the scratches and even repaint the bumper. I was appauld because I know it would never come out the same and there was no talk of a discount for the lost value. Getting angry, we turned away and said there was to be no sale today.

I had to come back as I remember that I had a $500 deposit when I started talking to the GM. He apologized profusely and mentioned about an 08 he just got in last night. Black and 4000 more miles he said, but a great deal. Negative on color for me and my wife really wanted white but I sold her on the Carbon Bronze that was in a less than desirable state.

So he said............what about an 09 tech brand new. I said, not possible as we wont even be in the same price stratosphere. He said I dont even care if I lost money. I said you would need to bleed and he said let the bleeding begin

2 hours later, we drove home in a brand new 09 Alpine White with the tech package and some other add on. Grand total on sticker was $38460...... our price..... $30,900 WITH the warranty extension to 7 years AND the maintenance package include. I just about crapped myself. And to boot, a 7.4 interest rate.

it ended up being $5900 more than the other car but in my opinion we made out like bandits. Nothing like the smell of a new car.

Way to go Acura

Sounds like a good price, but that new vehicle interest rate leaves a lot to be desired.

I did just buy my 2008 RDX Tech online used with 4,500 miles ($26.5k), but it turned out as good or better than expected. The guy did have over 60 pictures showing practically every square inch of the vehicle. So don't rule out any future online purchases due to this experience.

agreed

we already shopped our credit union and they could have done 5.9% but it was all the timing. We plan to double up our payments and minimize how much of our money Honda Finance gets

this is a classic case of bait and switch. You got suckered into paying more for what you were originally intended to. This is even for a brand new car. The dealership does this all the time. Always offer you a 'better and more expensive model after they have messed up on a deal. What a trap!

King, I disagree. We made the choice. We werent happy with the scratches and they had to do the work to get us into the 2009. That $30,900 includes the 7 year bumper to bumper and maintenance program which I believe has a $1800 value. So net on the car would be just over $29,000 for a brand new 09 tech. Looking at www.bankrate.com the average rate for 60 month new is between 6.5 and 7.5 so I still say we did fairly good on that case. We tend to pay off stuff at 1/2 that actual time so our overall cost will be low for interest

I guess to each is own but I think we did pretty damn good.

Bait and switch or not, there's no doubt in my mind the dealership lost money on this deal. I guess this is a sign of the times... But, a loss for them is a definite win for you! Congrats and welcome to the site.

I just know that Acura has a 2.9% finance special on a new RDX.
http://www.acura.com/tools/shopping/...aspx?model=RDX

Looks like you got a used car finance rate.

well I guess we didnt qualify with a 60 month loan and credit. I can bet that low rate requires you to have a 760 beacon or higher. Not easy in these days

Either way all that matters is we got a great price. We pay down our loans in half the time anyways. Man you guys really dont want me to enjoy thinking I got a good deal do you

Congrats sounds like you got exactly what you wanted…..in the end you got a new car and the rate although just a bit north of what I would have preferred is still a great price.

30,900 for a new tech 09 is a good price period. Enjoy the smell of new car

They got you AND convinced you that it was a good thing for you. They may have sold you the car under invoice, but are getting it back with the 7.4% interest rate. The car industry is in shambles and the RDX has NEVER been a hot seller. You should have gotten 0% financing, but certainly nothing over 2.9%. You have to do your homework, as the dealers love to play with the numbers to make the deal seem better than it actually is.

You've got a great deal. Hope your wife enjoy the new RDX. I also made a deal similar to yours on an 08 tech brand new for $30700 for my wife. So an 09 for $200 more is great!!! We did get the 2.9%. However, when your score improves in 6 months, you can always refinance or just simply pay more toward the principle.

My other car is an 08 G35S. But I think the RDX is just as fun to drive with the turbo and the ShAwd.

I've currently got a 02 TL-S, but we've been in the market for an RDX for quite a while. Around here (VA) I haven't found any good deals. We'll be trading in her car (04 Accord EX V-6) for it, or possibly attempting to sell it out right. All the RDX Tech's we've seen around here are going for 26K and higher. It's not a bad deal, but it's not nearly what I'd like to pay.
